Check out Royal Rumble '05 (when Edge applied that on HHH )or any match in late'04 & early '05... Edge used it quite often back then...
That was the Edgeucator. Great move and Edge had it snatched away from him when they turned him heel. The other stunning move he had was the Edgecution which was his other signature finishing move (for the pinfall with the Edgeucator getting the tap-outs). Edge was asked to stop using these moves when he turned heel.

The reason for this is that the heel is supposed to be sneaky and win dirty. So, they needed Edge to look weak in the match and then win with a spear with Lita distracting the opponent, or with a low blow and spear, or with a handful of tights etc... Each time, the aim was to make Edge look weak. The Edgeucator and Edgecution were moves that made the crowds mark out for Edge. Keeping those moves would have detracted from his heel heat and would make him look better than his opponent (particularly a loser like 2-move Cena) so his move-set was resticted. Glad to find people who like those moves though

That was all Orton's fault. The idiot was pushed like crazy when he became the youngest champ. Then, the E found out that the push was too early and too quick. The crowds lost interest. Randy was not really ready overall (Poor mic-work and raw gimmick... Also not good enough in the ring) and because of this, the drawing power was poor... He was drawing when in the feud with Trips, but that was mainly because of Trips and not because of Randy... So they had to take the belt off him...

But they would still have pushed him. Vince loved Randy's potential. Randy started having disciplinary issues backstage and had a HUGE attitude problem that caused fights galore. All through this, Vince continued to back Randy (Like Randy actually going over Undy in a few matches in that push of his), but then something happened (details are still murky) and Vince could not take any more... So, Randy's de-push started. He lost the feud to Undy and then really got relegated to the back. He was also suspended for 6 months...

All in all, Randy is a good wrestler with good technique and in-ring skills and he has got slightly better on the mic as well. As a heel, he can actually draw pretty good heat. But unless he really straightens up his discipline (he has had even more problems even after that suspension), he will never get any major belt...

BTW, in case you are wondering about the suspension of Randy, remember the time when Angle 'broke' Orton's ankle? That entire angle was played to explain Orton's absence...

Cheers!

Hmm...Talking of finishing moves....
I like HHH's pedigree and prefer Goldbergs Jackhammer over his spear.

Still remember the duels between HHH and Goldberg at Unforgiven and Summer Slam!

I have 2 doubts (because I had to stop watching it for abt 4 yrs in between in ma college )
1) How did Eddie Gurrero Die??
2) Why was Rey Mysterio taken outta the eqn.. I mean, his reign as the underdog champ was kinda rocking!!!

PS: another sad fact... John Cena is probably the only person to have held 2 belts with him for so long!!! :( sad piece of shit like him

This should enlighten you

An autopsy revealed that Guerrero died as a result of acute heart failure, caused by undiagnosed arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease and enlargement of the heart as a result of prior anabolic steroid abuse. Although Guerrero had not taken alcohol or illicit drugs for nearly four years, his past excesses contributed to his heart failure. At the time of his death, he had recently used narcotic painkillers.

Guerrero's wife Vickie said that he had been lethargic and unwell in the week preceding his death, but that this had been attributed to the stress of continuously travelling and performing. She added that the doctors had told her that Guerrero's blood vessels had shriveled and weakened owing to undiagnosed heart disease, and that he had simply dropped into a deep sleep.
On the November 30, 2005 edition of WWE Byte This!, Chavo Guerrero said that Guerrero had been working very hard and was at peak physical fitnesscardiovascular and weight training exercises every day. There had been no symptoms or cause for concern. Chavo noted that, while many people abuse drugs for over ten years with no ill effects, Guerrero, despite having ceased to abuse drugs four years earlier, had suffered heart complications that were not detected in time to prevent his death. as a result, cardiovascular and weight training exercises every day. Hmmm..not sure about the exact reason here... But many people (myself included) felt that making Rey the World Heavyweight champ was a huge farce... I mean..sure, the guy has great talent & in-ring ability & is remarkably quick & athletic... But how can u have a champion who starts off as an underdog against even the regulars of the second-tier (IC title, Us title) championships..?? I wont even go into how the purely physical differences make it difficult to carry Rey through any kinda major contests with good wrestlers over any length of time (say a few months)
Also, it was then that Booker-T (now called as King Booker...WTF..!??!) won the King of the Ring Tournament (How come they never called HHH, Kurt Angle & Brock Lesnar "King" when they won "King of the Ring"..!??!?? so i suppose it was convenient to end rey's title reign & get the King Booker as the top heel of smackdown

Re: Wrestling Fans Revisited - Cena S*cks!!! - 10-04-2007, 08:10 PM

Eddie died simply because of heart issues as mentioned above. It's widely believed that years of drug and steroid abuse caused this...

As for Rey, well, it was always on the cards. You see, Eddie was scheduled to be Champion when he died. Then, Smackdown was faced with a twin dilemma:

1. With Batista injured and out and 'taker occupied and on a very very light schedule, there was an acute shortage of faces on SD.
2. A HUGE section of the crowds wanted to see some sort of WWE tribute to Eddie...

So, the E decided to cash in on popular sentiment and made Rey the Champ. This caused the crowds to really back him in a sentimental manner and also got a huge push in the merchandise that was being sold. Ratings also soared.

But what can one do with Rey as Champ? After all, who do you feud him with? Mark Henry was a challenger at that time. Could anyone buy Rey beating him? It was unreal and the crowd fascination died fast. I mean how many times could Rey retain with DQ wins et al? Could anyone even THINK of him beating Khali?

So, after keeping the belt on Rey for a while, a change was needed. Also, Batista was on the return trail. It was obvious that he would be getting the belt back once he returned (a returning favourite always gets the belt - Examples being HHH, Austin, Rock, HBK etc in the past).

Now, putting Batista against Rey would be suicide. It would be face v/s face and would not really pull much interest. So, they needed a heel Champ. Booker deserved a push. Every smark will tell you that Booker has been under-pushed in terms of how much talent he really has.

Booker is gold on the mic and really gets heat as a heel. He also deserved the title way back in 2000-2002 when he was on an excellent face run but never got the belt... So, the logical thing was to make the top heel the Champ... A no-brainer after that to make Booker the Champ...

Cheers!

Thankoos MvB n shubhankar...

On a fresher theme, How many of you feel that SD is in general losing the sheen which it had earlier... I mean, bobby lashley is in ECW (for wat?? he comes to RAW n SD every day.. bloody hell) n yesterday terry long was so outta ideas that he pitched a heel vs heel match... bah!!! never saw the crowd so bored...
No one knew whom to cheer kinda funny now that you think of it...

Then they have matches like Jeff/Matt hardy vs Khali.... I mean, what's the fun in that... the match gets over in 2 mins... Alright, we KNOW... Khali is GOD.. so why doesn't he fight some more people his size???

n khali... taking out his (what is his version of meat hook called anyways???) hook n laughing a fake laugh... hehehe couldn't do anything but hold my head..

so.. how many of you feel that SD is really really going to the Dogs???

To be honest...I felt Smackdown has been screwed ever since Brock Lesnar left SD for the NFL after WM 20... & Raw has been shitty ever since Cena became "The Champ"...
The period just before that... was the best time for the WWE in recent times... With Brock in SD & HHH in Raw on a red-hot streak..& both of those superstars richly deserving what they got..!!!
