PG - Delhi Chapter (SMS Group, Future Meets, and Discussions) - 27-03-2007, 06:33 PM

First, I will like to thanks Apurv who dropped sms to pagaldelhi remarking absene of Delhi Chapter thread. Thanks are also due to curtz-imi as the content of this post is copied from Bangalore Chapter thread.

As we all know that Delhi has always been a cold bed for PG in terms of members, activities, initiatives et all....now time has come for us to prove that on a local level we can take the initiative forward rather than lying low... lets kick start the Delhi PG Chapter...

All puys can come up with their suggestions and plan of action. I am opening up a specific Dehi Chapter thread so that exclusive discussions with regards to local plans can be carried out in one focussed thread.

Some Important Happenings Regarding Delhi Chapter: -

1. Delhi Meet - April 1, 03:00 PM, Dilli Haat At the meet further improvements for the Delhi chapter can be outlined.

2. Delhi PG SMS Group The group has been started and the number is 9845398453. To subscribe to the thread, sms START PAGALDELHI to the number. To unsuscribe, sms STOP PAGALDELHI. For sending ur messge after subscription, sms PAGALDELHI msg to the number and msg will be sent to everyone. Also mention ur name with sms.

There are various items that u can get by smsing MENU to the number.

@All the late joiners and Newbies in Pagaldelhi SMS group

This is the archive to all of the messages posted in the same uptil now!!

Code of conduct and rules for participating in the group :

5) No personal attacks(won't happen anyway),and meaningless and random discussions which directly or indirectly result in spamming or discomfort to other members!!

6) Avoid late night messages unless unavoidable(like a night before PG meet,or some result)

7) Please don't make it a chat box,let the group serve its basic purpose of discussions on PG delhi chapter.

suggestions invited!!

I hereby requote my post about the Code of Conduct on the main SMS groups thread. Please note that most of these commandments were broken last night. Do try to follow them, for the success of the group.

Regards,
Grondmaster

Code of Conduct for Pagalguy SMS Groups.
  1. Thou shalt at all times act Responsibly. As we are all pagals of some level or another, maturity is out of the question. Insanity is assured. However, Responsibility is a given that needs to be taken care of. Let the SMS groups be there for disbursal of important information and staying in constant contact, not for chatting or spamming.
  2. Thou shalt start every SMS with thy name. I always forget to write my name in the end of the message, so have to send it again with my name - one sms down the drain, and I become a pseudo spammer. Rather, if everyone accepts that the name has to be written in the beginning, its better.
  3. Thou shalt not send more than one SMS every 5 min. Spamming goes down? I feel it will...
  4. Thou shalt not send test, hi people, SPAM, forwarded or any such messages. It makes sense to utilize such a service, that goes direct to a cell phone, for sensible messages only. SPAM messages or test messages can irritate a person - simple netiquette, carried on to cell phones. Similarly, we get too many forwards by SMS and email daily. No need to add to the traffic by sending forwards on the group.
  5. Thou shalt not carry on private conversations on the group. Chatting, flirting and philandering - all activities meant to be conducted between two members only, supposedly private but made public - these activities are better off on SB, not on the groups. Carry the online insanity onto the SMS group yes, but with responsibility.
  6. Thou shalt not conduct public fights on the SMS group. Personal attacks, random comments leading to heated discussions and spamming are strictly prohibited. Hope you understand why.
  7. Thou shalt maintain the sanctity of night-time peace. All late night messages on the group should be avoided to maximum extent. Only in an emergency, or where a major event is occuring in the next 24 hours, like a PG Meet or Bschool results, can messages be sent.
  8. Thou shalt accept only one wish message. For any group member's birthday, only one message to be sent from the group's side. If one member sends a B'day message, it is understood to come from everyone, so no one else repeats the wish. Similarly, the reply to that comes only once. For individual wishes, please use the personal contacts. The same goes for any Day (Valentines', Freindship, Fathers', Mothers', etc.) or any festival (Diwali, Eid, Christmas, etc.) These messages go only after 6 AM of the day in question, not at midnight the night before. Read Commandment 7 for why so.
  9. Thou shalt not goad a dormant group into activity. The group is there for discussion, not for passing time. Do not try to goad a quiet group into activity. SMS groups are not akin to the SB.
I would like to thank vipfloyd for adding to the code - commandments no. 1, 5-7 are all his ideas, formatted by me. His last commandment here (PG - Delhi Chapter (SMS Group, Future Meets, and Discussions)) was so important, I decided to make it Commandment 1.

More suggestions for the code of conduct are welcome.

Regards,
Grondmaster

Rather than using Pagaldelhi, I think it is better if we use this thread for discussions.

SMSes should be used only for important messages when someone does want to convey something that is urgent. If not followed they will lost their significance, because first thing everyone will do is to delete these messages.

All said and done, I was also guilty of dropping two smses urging people not to spam but they also contributed to mayhem. Sorry for that. And I will refrain from doing it in the future.

Grondy, good work on the CoC. How about we make a very concise SMSable version of it to add to the confirmation-after-joining message? It could have just 3-4 of the very important codes, like No messaging after 10pm, no anonymous messages, no flaming etc? It could go to three message lengths (each message is 140 characters).

Can you make this CoC? I'll add it to the system.
