PG - Bangalore Chapter : Discussion and Kickoff -
23-03-2007, 12:31 PM
Before starting of with the first post, lemme take this opportunity to thank Arun for coming up with yet another great initiative
As we all know that Bangalore has always been a hot bed for PG in terms of members, activities, initiatives et all....now time has again come for us to prove that on a local level we can take this great initiative forward and make it an unparralel success...lets kick start the BLR PG Chapter thing this sunday when we meet over some cups of coffe n mugs of beer...i would request all the members attending the meet to think over the next 2 days and when we meet this sunday come prepared with, how to make the BLR chapter -
1) more effective in terms of intra puys networking
2) how can we integrate the community service initiatives through this new chapter initiatives
3) what kind of activities we can plan for BLR (it can be normal chapter meets, exclusive event meets, paticipation in NGO events, organizing seminars/discussions regarding B-school entrance/Career opportunities etc etc.), lets define both short term and long term goals
4) the means to expand PG's reach amongst city's youths
All puys can come up with their suggestions and plan of action. I am opening up a specific BLR Chapter thread so that exclusive discussions with regards to local plans can be carried out in one focussed thread.
What i suggest is that the first thing required is a consolidated database of all Puys based in BLR or asscociated with BLR in terms of their contact and acad/professional details. when we meet this sunday can we come prepared with the details of all the members we know in BLR. It will help us in facilitating better co-ordination and effective actions
Requirements for Sunday:
1) One laptop
2) One memory stick/CD/Diary for data backup
3) Loads of energy and ideas to make it an astounding success
once again arun kudos for the initiative...lets kick start it...
ciao..

One thing which I would like to add over here is...
Is there a way to induct the new pagals of b'lore into the meet???
Because except maybe a few of us.. Everyone else will be surely (hopefully) leaving this city asap..
For the initiative to be successful, it is imperative that we induct the new blood into the city so as to keep the chapter running for a long while..
I must admit at this point that the function of this chapter is not really clear to me and would appreciate it if someone could really define it for me...
and till the moment I am here, count me a part of it!!!

Count me in for any contribution. I may not make it to the meet though.
Go Bangalore! Good Intiative.
Curtz, Can you also include in your post where to send the contact details (Probably ask interested folks to PM you their numbers/contact ?)
You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club

Re: PG - Bangalore Chapter : Discussion and Kickoff -

responding to a few queries:
About whom to contact for submitting member information, when we meet on sunday we will select/elect someone amongst us (preferably someone who for at least the next year or so is perched up in BLR). He/she will be responsible for collating and maintaining the member info. That i think is the first official poition to be created.
about mentorship to young PaGaLs from the city, yes thats very important as like any other set up we require a regular influx of new committed to cause members. To start with lets formalise the chapter in the city and then when we first meet with maybe a lot many presently active members (tentatively april 2nd week), we will draw up a plan of action to turn ourselves into a community of choice (COC) or in other words we will draw up the plan of how to attract new members in the local chapter and also how to bring into the chapter's fold members who are someway or the other related to BLR but dont reside in the city.
am delighted with the kind of enthusiastic response we are getting for the BLR Chapter...keep on brainstorming puys

Brilliant Idea By Psychodementia and Kudos to Curtz , ashishyahoo and others for taking it forward.
Well , just for the record, we at PG HQ *ahem ahem* are also very excited by the whole thing. Any kind of support, if required will be provided by us.For example we can have blogs like bangalore.pagalguy.com where the details, contacts , details of the meets etc will be provided.
Will be coming back with more ideas and suggestions. And if you guys require anything, get in touch!
Cheers!!!

How about first clearly defining the functions and objectives of a "PG Chapter"
As far as I am concerned.. I have no frikkin idea what are we supposed to do if we are members of the PG chapter (I mean, since its going to be localized, I see no point in joining the PG chapter of a particular city)...
Please sirs... I would really like to know the motives and functions of a bangy PG chapter!!!
