The local chapters can be involved in many activities...
organise meets, contact details of the active pagals, working for a social cause/activity(i agree its happening now too but it can be made more organised), maybe talk to local instis which have cat coaching and have some kind of regular interaction with them.... more of such similar things... can be done...
i guess it would be more clear one we meet and brainstorm about what else can be done... and also you can read PhyscoD's post regarding the purpose of local chapters and the whole idea...
hope that helped... if it didnt tu mil mujhe baad me Quote:

Please sirs... I would really like to know the motives and functions of a bangy PG chapter!!! | | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to mituag For This Useful Post: | | | | | |

The good part about doing it so fast is that unless one does it no one will know the painpoints
The bad part is that if its not properly thought out it might fizzle out - leaving a bad precedent/example.
But would be glad to know if I see a PG Bangalore chapter live and kicking when I get back in May

Saikatbhai I think you should have pointed to: http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/chit-c...ters-pour.html
Accha bhai log, let me answer your queries.
(1) All the "local chapter" has is a couple of guys who would act as "constant" points of contact. They would internally coordinate with other PGites in their respective city.
(2) For "new" members - arrey yaar aap log bhi balak ho who came well after 2005 Doesnt mean PG didnt exist before that and doesnt mean it wont continue to exist afterwards too. So as long as we have a thread running on any local activity in the city Im sure a lot of new "puys" will find the way to it
(3) It is *not* centered around just social causes. Its an umbrella which overs a lot more. Please read my post on the other thread for the same.

Some "kameene keede" fringe benefits - (a) looks good on your resume (b) gives you opportunities to meet the fairer sex (c) gives you "power" because you are the go-to person for everything (d) ability to hoodwink estranged into some cash (e) sell the pg junta database to some company for money (f) use PG meets as an excuse to drink yourself silly (g) meet companies for marketing PG and try to land up a job yourself ...... I could go on
So all this should NOT be done !! okay ??
PG has no place for kameene keedes only acche, bhale, nek keedes apply

Puys just a few thoughts beore we meet tomorrow :
1) When we meet tomorrow...lets come prepared with hundresds of questions/doubts/ideas....it'll be very nice if everyone can jot down their opinions/queries in a piece of paper or take a print out of the same and come...that will help us in document in all the points pondered upon.
2) We are the first city which has jumped the gun...so we will have to understand as arun has already pointed out, that we will lay the way..that others will tread. If we can kickstart the chapter successfully...we will be the icons that the future generations will look upto....if we lose our way...the enthusiasm for taking PG to the next level will take a serious hit...so i would request everyone to think/deliberate/argue/question every step we take....
3) Lets take the steps slowly....there is no point hurrying into anything...lets take one step at a time...once we have all queries/doubts in...we will categorize them into different areas (for eg: organizational structure/activities/liasoning/group dynaimcs/financing/events partnering/promoting et all)...and the key should be closing one area after another. I know there might be some queries which will have to be adressed by more than one areas, we will take them separately.
4) Continuing with the previous point what i think we should close tomorrow is
- Responsibilty for handling BLR database with the deadline of closing the current member database
- Basic understanding of the Chapter concept
- When the first official chapter meeting can be convened
5) In the end would just want to reaffirm what Arun had very clearly pointed out in his very first post: Let's keep it simple puys. No hi-fi ideas to start with...no complex processes to be followed...no fancy events/liasoning....i know imgaination has no limits...but for once to start with lets stick to basics
Lets kickoff

me too in tomorrow as well as to contribute to BLR chapter..
But 2 things
1.As Ashish rightly said tomorrow may not be the right day as its Vineet's farewell....
2.As Anarchy said, Induction of new guys should be more important as most of the old guys now may leave blr..responsibility may be shouldered to amrutesh or abhi or some one who has been with PG for sometime & who will be taking CAT 07 from BLR & we can all contribute to our level best (from whereever we are in future too)... The initial enthusiasm of the BLR puys looks quite encouraging with regards to the chapter thing. Few points raised during the the short discussion we had were
1) What kind of support is expected from the PG HQ
2) What kind of authority will the local chapter have in terms of taking decisions locally
3) Are we looking at some particular set of activities (for eg. leveraging on PG's USP of MBA Counselling) or are we looking at activities beyong this
4) How can this chapter help in attracting new members are retaining old members
5) When PG is right now looked upon just as a stepping stone to a B-School, how will this chapter aid in changing that image or do we actually want to change that image
The positive outcome of the discussion is that today am sitting with a database of 64 PGites from BLR, more names will be added as and when they come. So the kickoff has happened albeit its a short pass..but nevertheless the ball has rolled and yeah in the positive direction...
Thanks all for coming forward and supporting this cause
