Team India did it!! Cleared the first hurdle. Now have to beat Lanka convincingly which wont be so easy.
Good to see the batting order firing in all cylinder. Yuvraj and Sachin were the pick of the batsman for me.
West Indies are getting better and better by every match. They have entered Super 8 and will be a threat to others.
Todays prediciton:
SA and NZ would win easily.
LAtes news:
Inzamam quits as Pak Test skipper and retires from the shorter version of the game.
Match against the Zim will be his last ODI.

What a way to WIN- style se jeet gaye bhai log!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Usually i am a critic of Indian team for the way they play.............But our players deserve some good words for the way they played...........though Bermuda bowling attack was not that good, its not proper not to give credits to our batsmen......after all Sri LAnka played against same Bermuda team but cudn't cross 350.......so pls stop compaining we achieved this against minnows.......SA, Aussie also played against minnows bit they cudn't cross 400.......but we DID........it was shear pleasure to watch the shots by Yuvi, viru, sachin.........
However bowling was a let down.....we shudn't have allowed Bermuda to cross 100......
now our runrate stands @ +2.507, as against LAnka's +4.86, & Bangla's +0.14
Just hope & pray Lankans thrash Bangla by BIG BIG margin, making it impossible for bangla to improve runrate against Bermuda
(Ofcourse we hve to win against LAnkans )
@murthy001: i agree with u man......inzy as a palyer was very gud.....he had fighting spirit which very few hve in international cricket.....really sad he had to take retirement in this manner:neutral:

One hurdle crossed... one more to go. The margin was convincing and India's current NRR wud be [257/50] - 0.14 = +5.00 --> Highest in the group.
The following would be favourable for India:
1. SL losing to B'desh and India, in which case NRR wud not come into the picture
2. SL losing to India by 20/30 runs, Bangladesh losing to SL by a similar margin and Bangladesh winning against Bermuda by less than 257 runs... preferably a max of 100, 150 runs -- INdia and SL wud be through to the next round with India having 2 pts in it's kitty.
3. SL losing to INdia by a certain margin and Bangladesh losing to SL by a margin less than this margin, in which case; B'desh will have to win against Bermudas by a margin greater than the one by which SL won.. Ind, Ban thru , SL knocked out...
Anyways, let's hope that the best happens.
And I saw some atrocious post by a certain Subodh... I am actually ashamed that I replied to some of his posts... tauba tauba... Repeating FREAKAZOID's request to all Indian fans and Sachin fans: "Please do not bother to respond to such posts"
Let's have some logical discussions here, as has been the wont of this forum ever since its inception.

Nope dude its not that way...posting an article here from TOI to calculate NRR:
How is net run rate (NRR) calculated?
The net run rate for any team is simply the rate at which it is scoring runs minus the rate at which it is conceding them. It is, therefore, the total runs it has scored divided by the total number of overs it has played minus the total number of runs it has conceded divided by the total number of overs it has bowled. Example: If Team A scores 250 runs in 50 overs, its run rate per over is 250 divided by 50, that is 5. If Team B scores 200 runs, its run rate is 4.
Hence, Team A’s net run rate is 5 minus 4, that is, 1.
There is a caveat. In calculating run rates — whether the scoring rate or the conceding rate — a team that has been bowled out without batting through the 50 overs is treated as if it has played its full quota of overs. Thus, for instance, when Bermuda was bowled out by Sri Lanka for 78 in 24.4 overs, its scoring rate would be calculated not as 78 divided by 24.4 but as 78 divided by 50. Similarly, Sri Lanka’s conceding rate would also be 78 divided by 50.
Does batting first or second matter?
For any one match it does not. A team that scores say 450 and bowls out the opposition for 50 would have an NRR of 8 for the match. So also would a team that bowled first, conceded 100 and then chased the total in 10 overs.
However, when its NRR for all the matches is taken into account, the former result would be more beneficial. To understand why, consider this: — Suppose team A has already played one match in which it scored 250 in 50 overs and then bowled out the opposition for 200. Now, in its next match if its scores 450 and bowls out the opposition for 50, its NRR at this stage would be 450 plus 250 (i.e 700) divided by 100 — which is 7 — minus 50 plus 200 (i.e 250) divided by 100 —which is 2.5 — working out to +4.5. — If instead, it had in the second match bowled first, conceded 100 and scored 101 in 10 overs, its NRR (by a similar calculation) would be just +2.85.
Thus, despite the NRRs for individual matches being the same in both scenarios, the total NRR is quite different. This happens because the calculations ensure that highscoring matches carry greater weight than low scoring ones.
Does this mean anything for the India-Bangladesh-Sri Lanka situation?
Yes it does. If India beats Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka beats Bangladesh, whether Bangladesh bats first or second in its match against Bermuda could be crucial in deciding whether it can catch up with India’s NRR. If Bermuda bats first, it might be next to impossible for Bangladesh to do it.
Hope it helps

Yea!!! great win that was. good to see the team regrouping and making a statement. Statistically the best performance by any team in the world cup and second best (qualitaitvely speaking) to only SA.
the positives:
1. Sehwag getting a 100. that was desperately required from him. I remember watching a spectator praying with his hands joined when he was at 99. we all loved it dint we?
2. Yuvi taking up more responsibilities. he performed in both the matches. I was initially a bit apprehensive about his selection in the squad with no match practice. but he has matured. Are we witnessing the next big thing in indian cricket
3. Sachin: My room mate (he happens to be a voracious sackhim fan and india hater) predicted a lousy performance from him coming at the end of the innings. we've had almost no conversation since for obvious reasons .
but besides that its exciting to see him perform so much down the order. Do we get to see a bevan in him...i have my fingers crossed
cheers
