I have a couple of HDDs with bad sectors.. :x :x
How can I retrieve my data from such HDDs ???
Please suggest some softwares for it..

If u a connected to internet thats A CLEAR CASE OF SPYWARE

Get some good anti spyware and run it................

or go 2 panda anti virus website and u can do online scan for ur PC

After this u can also do this >>>>start---run---sfc /scannow

(but in case of spyware it wont work)

and if ur using IE version try switching to Mozzila or Opera

Many a times we r baffled when our system crashes and there are various beeps comin 4rm it.

Actually these beeps help in decipher the underlying problems.

so I m posting abt beeps and how they can b deciphered.


ERROR CODES IN A PC

One Beep

Reason:
DRAM refresh failure

This may be due to - Bad memory chips
- A bad DMA Chip
- Bad memory addressing chips on the motherboard

Reseat and clean the RAM chips

Two Beeps :

Reason: Parity error or Parity Circuit failure

Your memory may not be seated properly on the mother board.
Unplug and plug it properly. Smtimes wrks in case of (one beep also)


Three Beeps :

Reason: Bad memory or bad mother board


Four beeps :

Reason:Timer failure in the RAM.


Five Beeps :

Reason:CPU dead


Six Beeps :

Reason:Keyboard controller may have failed

Check operating system. Replace keyboard or Replace motherboard


Seven beeps :

Reason: CPU is dead. Retry the connections and test.
Replace the whole motherboard.


Eight Beeps :

Quote:Video card is missing or Bad.


Nine Beeps :

Reason: ROM BIOS checksum error
BIOS chip has to be replaced if it persists.


Ten Beeps :

Reason: CMOS shutdown. Replace CMOS memory and associated chips.




One long Beep and Three short Beeps:

Reason:Memory failure


One long Beep and Eight short Beeps :

Reason:Video card failure. Try to install video card in another slot.


No Beeps :

Reason:Check Power supply
Check mother board connections
Remove all cards except video card and check for system power up
Insert all cards one at a time and check their operation.
If system hangs on the installation of a particular card, then it is the cause for the problem and replace it with another of that type and check

If you have a broadband connection, odds are you use RAS PPPoE and 'dial' into your connection. You can automate this process and auto-login on system startup, with Microsoft’s Rasdial utility that comes with Win XP.

1. Look at your RAS dialup connections in “My Computer>My Network Places>Network Connections”. Name the connection you want to dial something simple, like “ISP” etc.
2. Make a text file containing the following:

   rasdial ISP username@domain.net password

   Here “ISP” is the name of the connection from the 2nd step, “username@domain.net” is whatever you type in the username field while dialling, and “password” is your .. well, plaintext password. Yes, I realise it is a security risk. Don't keep the file in plain sight atleast.
3. Save this as a batch file, and add it to the “Startup” menu in your “Start>Programs” menu.

In a command prompt, type "rasdial /?" to see all available options.
I’ve set Azureus and this batch file to run on startup, so I don’t forget to use up my precious (and expensive) VSNL bandwidth

I hope this place is gud enuf to post any computer query..... My problem is related to H/W and i hope fellow PGites can help me out!!

Actually, the trouble is something like this:

My PC configuration is:

AMD Athlon 1700+
Mercury KOB 740Fx motherboard
120 Gb Samsung HDD (80+40)
Sony Floppy Drive
Sony Combo Drive 52x/32x/52x/16x
512Mb Ram

No accelerator card.... although the graphics card is SiS (inbuilt) and so is the sound card.


I used to play Max Payne earlier and have completed both the parts..... But, now whenever i try starting it or any other game for that matter, my systems hangs.... It is not able to run any games.

Actually, i had left my system in my flat for sometime and when i took it back, i discovered that the RAM was broken and the socket was also a bit faulty..... due to which (once i changed the RAM), whenever i used boot, i would not get the POST beep and when i would re-start my PC, then i would get it...... (sometimes it used to happen that i would have to re-boot my system 2-3 times to hear the POST beep!)

Anyway, i dunno if that has anything to do with this problem, i just told ya so that u know that this problem is also occuring....!

Anyway, so now can someone advice me as to what i can do? I know the game can run without a 3D acclelerator card and hence i dont need one....
