You aren't getting votes 'cause your candidates seem to be the "best" batsmen in the world rather than the "most elegant"

Where are the Damien Martyns, the Mahela Jayawardenes, the Stephen Flemings?

Iam not going to vote for a guy whose only claim to fame is being the best batsman in the world

defn of elegance - 17-12-2004, 09:18 PM

hey ppl who created this poll... plz reframe ur question or alter the choices
with no harm to rahul's reputation, i however fail to associate him with elegance. elegance is some thing that laxmans, gangulys or atapattus impart to the game... these r only few names... obviously there r more.
and yes... tendulkar>>> i m too less a person 2 comment on him...

* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * *I seriously feel that Sehwag and Yuvraj need to take a break from the game. Play the Ranji's and if they perform then selected into the National side.

* * * * * * *Time has come for some strict action to be taken otherwise INDIA is going to continue its bad run.
time to give sachin a short...very short break... rope in the rayudus and venugopal raos for minnow series... rotate players... what i mean is rest sacin for a match and then ganguly for the nxt...so on.
and axe VVS Laxman...if this team has to really go as far as it plans...

Well , do u ppl know where was Bob Woolmer born??? ( Gillette push clean fact )

friend i'm a severe critic of a person whom the world knows as Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. But here is a man who has been practising the game for close to two decades and for whom even a 43 of 66 odd deliveries is a poor performance. Yes Rahul has been stunning of late but then u a difference is more tangible when a guy scoring 60 of 99 balls starts scoring the same no. of or even more runs with a strike rate of arnd 90...
Now in Sachin's case... when someone who used to blast attacks irrespective of reputations into smithereeens starts taking five singles of six deliveries... obviously junta terms it snail pace... not so with dravid.
This can be compared to the famous optical illusion of two lines of same length appearing different just bcos of thee arrows..
<--> and >--<( u cant see the effect in the comp though)...
so then lets sit back and watch Mr. SRT as long as he opts to play the game...
Greatness has no limits, no boundaries and ofcourse no definitions...

And SRT gets out today first ball... Dude he had set such high standards... Cannot forget sharjah or this world cup...
And then he goes in a shell... He says " I used to think like Sehwag during the early part of my career.."
So he is curbing his instincts... Why can I ask?? I was his big time fan.. And am rather shocked at the way he plays and gets out...
His hunger to score more.. His hunger to dominate... His hunger to be numero uno.. All have died....

sad... but it seems he really does find it difficult now a days with aa string of injuries plaguing him...
if u r not a cricketer, take it frm me... it hurts like hell when u ve an injury in ur top hand... bottom hand injury toh bhi u can manage. That is the reason why sachin is playin a lot squarer these days... it takes a lot of top hand for a spanking xtra cover drive on the rise or the lofted shot over long off. this precisely is the reason why he got out today... trying to play with his bottom hand square of the wicket. in his earlier days he would ve played that ball through the covers n xtra cover...
regards..

Hi Guys... - 04-01-2005, 10:32 AM

Hello Peeps...

New to this Cricket Link...I guess its a long time since some one put up their comments here, probably becoz of the CAT results!

hopefully, with the Result fever subsiding, more people will respond to it soon....

In the meantime, here are my answers to the questions asked...

1) Who would be described thus: Born in India, played for England, banned in West Indies for playing in South Africa. (one of da most borin comms I no!) --- Robin Jackman(waise, I like his commentary!)

2) Which cricketer (prob 1st of many) required "psychiatric help" after facing Lillee for the first time? Viv Richards

3) Am a hard core Steve Waugh fan. (undoubtedly the best batsman of this generation, in terms of effectiveness!) this ones for hard core waugh fans: How many tests did Steve Waugh win as captain in Sri Lanka? I think its 0!
