As I always said Selectors are nothing but a bunch of Jokers. Like always Dravid is paying for too much of gentleman. As for me The thorniest question of the selection, though, remained Dravid. Since his comeback, he has scored 14, 47, 39, 76 and 4 in five innings; the 39 came in a crucial 95-run opening stand in the final of the tri-series in Sri Lanka. It was expected that Sehwag and Yuvraj would replace Karthik and Virat Kohli, their original replacements, but the selectors put faith in Kohli. I hope atleast Selectors know why.
Dropping of RP & Yusuf was expected & a good move .Ishant remains a puzzling choice. Rather he should consider himself very lucky. His selection has more to do with potential than actual performance on show.
Regarding dropping of Prasad & Robin, I dont think that is a bad move at all. But I really condemned BCCI's unprofessional hire & fire policy. We all witnessed how much pathetic India's bowling & fielding is becoming with passing every series. Talented player like Ishant, RP etc are no near their original potential. In fielding let alone senior player even young players like Virat , Yusuf , Ishant are doing mess on field. Frankly speaking at any point of time I dont find any improvement in Indian fields. Also too many coaches is always difficult to tackle. Each having his strategies , techniques , way of teaching etc leaving players confused.
I don't reveal my calls for the season, because I believe "Brevity is Wit" !

Ah!! I have left Nayar. In two tournaments (Srilanka & Champions tropy) he got to play on 3 ball. He was selected before kohli. Kohli selected much later on sudden replacement of Yuvi. But still Nayar was denied of any chance. I am not against kohli rather I feel pity for him too. Before Srilanka series Nayar was preferred over Kohli. In whole series nayar didnt get any chance. Now when kohli was busy in national tournament , he was called on immediate basis and made to play an international match with in 3 days of its announcement of its inclusion. Here BCCI made mockery of both Nayar & Kohli. For Nayar , already ahead in que and preparing himself daily for upcoming matches in hope of selections. But then suddenly kohli grabs his place shattering Nayar's self confidence.
For kohli , he didnt get time to prepare for such a big tournament like Champions Trophy , his nervousness & low confidence was clearly seen on field when his was dropping sitters & doing silly mistakes in field. In batting , lack of training to tackle mighty bowling attack of Australians & pakistanis was clearly shown in his batting.
Thus by this way two talented players could not able to show their mettle properly because of haphazard way of selecting players.

For me it will be 7-0 in favour of India. If McGrath and Lee can make whitewash predictions,so can I.

To be frank,Irfan had done nothing of note with the ball in the limited opportunities he was given in the recent past. His batting has been mindblowing as we saw in that T20 match against SL in February. If he had done well in the Challenger Trophy,I'm sure he'd have come in in place of Sudeep Tyagi.Unfortunately he got injured, did not play the Challenger and will now look to the Ranji Trophy to prove his worth. He will come back soon.

Champions League T20 Review -
24-10-2009, 11:58 PM
The T20 Champions League has come and gone. The reactions to it are mixed in that the players have relished the opportunity while the media has declared it a failure citing low TRPs as the reason.
The tournament is still in its infancy and will take time to mature. From a cricketing point of view,it has given a platform for domestic teams to exhibit their skills at a higher level. Each time they win or make it to the finals of their domestic championships, they can now look forward to playing in the CL.Players from teams like Somerset and Eagles have described it as a different experience in that they have not played before huge crowds back in their home countries.
A casual observation would suggest that the Hyderabad stadium was occupied to nearly 80% of capacity for the finals. The man they came to watch was Kieron Pollard, who had earlier set the stage on fire against New South Wales. This proves that a fiery innings from a single player will make heads turn.
The IPL teams did not make it past the 2nd stage and the common reason attributed to this is the lack of bonding. But the actual reason is the failure to do the basics on the field.Dropped catches, misfields, overthrows, missed stumpings and runouts--all added to the agony. It would be impossible to describe the Royal Challengers as a disjointed unit since the bonding among the ranks was clearly visible in the IPL in South Africa.A young upcoming player like Roelof van der Merwe was thrilled at playing in India, rubbing shoulders with none other than Anil Kumble. If gelling of teams translates into success, then Otago Volts and Wayamba Elevens should have made it to stage 2.
The future:Lalit Modi had announced that he has plans to conduct the tournament in various other countries while Dean Kino, the CEO of the CLT20,expressed that India was its key revenue generator. The council will meet in December to discuss the plans for 2010.It also seems that the new ICC Future Tours Programme has a window in it for the Champions League T20.
There would be no blame games for players of teams other than IPL teams. You cannot accuse a player like David Warner of playing well for NSW but failing for Australia. In my opinion, the tournament has the potential to revive domestic cricket.Domestic T20 competitions will no longer be unknown entities.

I heard/read someone predicting whitewash by India. Look how Australia shows its class. They by any standards outclassed Indian side in all departments. Although in the end on scoreboard look like it was close game. And it really was , thanks to Praveen & Harbhajan blind hittings. It was their day & I really wish that it should have extended to that last over. But Aussies deserves win. We all know hitting of Bhajji & Praveen was never part of any plan. That was totally fluke & unpredictable. Although it was hugely contributed by Watson's full toss bowling in the end overs.
But lack of claws in bowling & fragile middle order is really causing problems to India.
I hope Yuvi to recover soon to strengthen middle order. Also trying Munaf is also not bad , he had good domestic series.
