Do you hate Australia's cricket team?

Do you throw darts at Ricky Thomas Ponting and will never acknowledge him as one of the greatest batsmen ever?

Do you look at Aussie attacks on Indian students and say, "Just like their ****in' cricket team?"

Do you look at the scorecard of Sydney 2008 and feel like you've inflicted S&M on yourself?

If yes, go through this link : http://www.ocricket.com/articles/dea...rited-ponting/

It's a brilliant article written by my very good friend and now cricket freelancer, Suneer Chowdhary. And what's more, the guy is a PG user (though he doesn't post much nowadays). If you look through the archives of this very thread, you'll find him omnipresent there!

Go, Suneer! You rock!

the article is really good .. it has shown some of the instances where ponting has acted in a way unbecoming of the spirit of the game ..especially if he's the captain ..needless to say there will be more such instances like these ..

but one thing no can take away from him .. he's one hell of a batsman and fielder .. it shdn't take too long for him to break tendulkar's test runs and centuries record ..

Its nt a certainty... Ponting's current form is nt dat gud nd on the other hand sachin is playing quite nicely nd he still have lots of cricket left in him... so ponting breaking sachin's record is still a long loooong way... i hope it never happens :P

I hope statistics reamins fair with Sachin and Ponting and keep the record with Sachin !

And as far as Sachin is concerned I now sincerely think he is not going to retire till after the next world-cup ! And if that happens, Ponting has no chance to beat him in the centuries record ! Come on guys, we still do not have a replacement in the youngsters of today for a place instead of Sachin !

Cheers !

As far as ODIs are concerned, maybe sachin retiring after 2011 world cup is somewhat manageable but what abt tests ? .. say if sachin, dravid and laxman retire arnd 2011 ..who's gonna replace them ?? thats why it becomes very important to groom someone lke rohit sharma, pujara, etc ..

hi puys,
sorry for interuption on the discussion who is the greatest bats man.
But todays hottest topic is the new code introduced by WADA on the doping concerns. what do you guys think about the "whereabout" clause of the WADA. DO you think that players should give their everyday routine to WADA??
Please give your opinions

It's not feasible for any cricketer to tell WADA about their everyday routine. Moreover, constant sniffing by WADA would border around invasion of their privacy. But yes, WADA should check in on random players from time to time. That could make the players a bit wary of doing stupid stuff.

WADA's whereabouts clause is mindless and is an invasion of cricketers' privacy. Abhinav Bindra may have said there's nothing to create a fuss about it but he should realise he is not as popular as the cricketers in India. There is a high risk of the information being leaked to the media and that is what the players are concerned about. Most players involve themselves in charity initiatives in the off-season and they may not prefer publicising their charity acts. The BCCI rejecting the clause is perfectly acceptable.
