Re: Cricket Trivia and Discussions.. -

i have a question to ask the indian selectors?
why is a man from tamil nadu named subramaniam badrinath not included in the team when the selectors have been giving too much stress on youth,or is he at 27 too old for them...
i have seen his game in some domestic matches and a games, and in one paricular game he was playing aginst a decent bowling attack which had international bowlers like langveldt, morkel and he looked so composed and relaxed on the crease..plus he is a handy off spinner, good fielder and his attitude and body langauge is exemplary..you can compare with him the upcoming aussie cricketers in that respect...
btw, from the current lot of youngsters touring aus, rohit sharma looks a good future prospect, ian chappell a commentator whom i admire even went on to say he is an ideal replaceemnt for sachin tendulkar in the indian middle order for test matches..some high praise that..
tewary, looked out of sorts but he does have a good game, hope he comes good..
uthappa needs to work on his game a bit..when he gets going he looks good but he plays one inning in 5 which is not a good ratio at this level..
gambhir is an attractive stroke player and his game aginst spinners is very impressive, but against the faster men he has to cut out the rash across the line shots and pokes outside the off stump,if he has to turn into a more dependable batsmen for india...
hope raina gets a chance soon, because from what i remember he too is an attractive stroke player, just needs to learn how to build long innings.
i am not an expert, these are just observations made by a cricket enthusiast..
ps:i am not from tamil nadu

India Srilanka yesterday though washed out but Gambhir Dhoni partnership was
one of the better displays of one day batting by an Indian pair on foreign soil in recent times. It reminded of Ajay Jadeja and Robin Singh partnerships in late 90s.
Both Gambhir and Dhoni ran hard and converted 1s into 2s which is very important in big Aussie grounds.Specially Gambhirs hundred wasone of the better hundreds by an Indian middle order batsman. The way he handled Murli was specially refreshing ,not many batsman use there feet against Murli thesedays. His inside out shots were delightful. And then whenever Murli pitched it short he played late cut to perfection. He is very wristy and his six off Malinga was a treat to watch.Among the younger crop of batsmen Gambhir has shown rare mix of application and skill. He has shown hunger to play long innings something that Uthappa can take a leaf out of.

How many matches did he take?
I checked in StatsGuru yesterday night and know that no 1 has had 5 victims in his debut match.

Nope it's not kaluwitharna. He took a long time.
Dhoni effected 5 dismissals in only his 3rd ODI.I don't know of any who has been quicker in doing this.
