see dear wizard
a quick 30-40 towards the end may be batter than a long slow 80-100 in a one day match
so can a burst of 2-3 wicckets in a short spell vs players hitting out and getting caught in the deep
so stats cant tell abt the quality only quantity
Tests need a patient game caapable of grounding oppositoion and playing thru 5 days ..
one days needs more attacking batsman and defensive bowlers (vice versa intests)
also standard deviation is used to check consistency
ie avg may be 40 runs
but score of 0 and 80 and 42 and 38 both give same avg diff value of std deviations
hope u got it
better play and watch cricket than ask Qs here
