shaun pollock announces his retirement from international cricket
hmm,a big loss to south-african cricket, and even though of late he wasn't as effective a bolwer as he was 5-6 years back he was always very effective esp against india and his record against india was impressive in all forms of the game
i am sure, indians would be smiling at this news...

@Andy...
Give it up (versus utsav)...Noticed 1 thing? I didnt even groan at his posts? Getting a hint as to what I do with his posts?...He jus comes across as a milder version of DG...
Btw, yeah...Roebuck's cool, though Botham and Richards would strongly disagree That said, he must have been brave to terminate the great WI's contract with Somerset...Thanks for providing the link to Roebuck's blog...I actually have bookmarked this...
Cricinfo - Blogs - The Surfer and read all the different articles written by different ppl out here...
Btw, didnt know he was an Aussie (though one of his articles alluded to his possibility of being one) I always tght he was English...
Peter Roebuck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Here esp its mentioned that he even captained an Eng ODI side once

And so Yuvraj's failure co-incided with Sehwag's 113 (What a knock it was, even if it came against that kind of a bowling attack)...With Jaffer too scoring some runs in the 1st innings, the line-up for our top 6 gets sorted out...Dravid can breathe a sigh of relief though I dont see him staying at no. 3 for too long...No sooner than Yuvraj scores a few tons in ODIs again will the calls be heard for him to get re-instated in the Test side...The "Wall" better get used to opening the innings...
Btw, Kartik too got some runs...And as cliched as it might sound, it really is a good problem to have (So many batting options)...I'm sure once our Fab Four retire and have a look at their careers, they'd know that they owe a lot of their success to this constant threat from fellow batsmen...Pressure can work either way and in the case of our middle-order, its worked +vely more often than not in the last 4-5 years or so...

the way dhoni played at lord's (barring the rain intervention) he did play shots when presented with an oppourtunity & that is what saved us the match you don't score 76* just by padding everything & the tail showed a lot of nerve in that match

One article that makes a hell lotta sense...I mean, I shudder to even imagine the kind of treatment that the Aussies are in for when they come to India; Ponting, Clarke and needless to say, Symonds must be in for some real royal reception!
India Today - The most widely read newsweekly in South Asia.
Also, amongst all the 'open letters' written to Ponting this week, none's been better than this...Watch out for the sarcasm towards the end when the author introduces herself...Top stuff!

Btw, amidst all the chaos, lets remb that WACA would be a memorable occasion for atlst one Indian cricketer...Jumbo's on 599
Come to think of it, boy, 599 is "HUGE" Take a bow Anil!

In the wake of the ban imposed on Harbhajan, first the BCCI threatens to call off the tour, then Mr. Pawar makes a U-turn on the same, and now we have reports that the Indians have, hold your breath, dropped the charges against Hogg...
Cricinfo - India withdraw charge against Hogg
I get a feeling that there've been some hectic "behind closed door" negotiations...And I wont be surprised if our our-spinner is acquited of all charges once his appeal is heard...Not that there was no chance of this happening even otherwise (what with there being no evidence to prove the charges in the 1st place)...But what I feel right now, is that, the decision (Read outcome) on his hearing has already taken place

Napoleon Einstein has been named in India's cricket squad for the under-19 world cup to be played in Malaysia next month.
The squad appears at the bottom of this article :
Cricinfo - India name Kohli as U-19 captain
This is the statistics page for the Tamilnadu player :
Cricinfo - Players and Officials - Napoleon Einstein
Let's hope he makes it to the Indian squad soon. How could we ever lose with Napoleon Einstein playing for us ?
