Re: Cricket Trivia and Discussions.. - 11-06-2007, 06:46 PM

In a fantastic development, Graham Ford has declined the offer to coach Team India.
After throwing his hat in the ring, and pitching very hard for the job, it will be interesting to know what exactly changed his mind? My guess is probably the stresses of the 2nd toughest job in the country. And probably also all the politics involved with anything involved with the BCCI. I guess his one experience of dealing with the panel that interviewed him was enough to convince him!
Question is: who next?
Emburey? Im personally not convinced by this guy: to start with he was a spinner, not a very gr8 batsman....and his credentials as a coach arent very impressive.
Dav Whatmore? He was the guy i was personally rooting for, as he definitely had it in him to turn the team around. Why he wasnt chosen will remain a mystery, altho there have been rumours that Shastri and Gavaskar were against him. Again for what reason nobody really knows. Whatmore after being virtually assured of the job, and then rudely turned down, apparently because 'he was too keen', after this i dont think he wudnt want to have anything to do with the BCCI
Shastri: He has said that he's not interested and he's got his media commitments, but one never knows...
After all this my prediction is that it will most likely be an Indian coach...

interesting development indeed.....so where does it leave the BCCI.
dont think they have many option now.picking Embury wud be settling for second best ,which doesnt go well wid the image of cash rich and powerfull BCCI.Whatmore might not be available now .Shashtri isnt intersted .
few names which BCCI should now consider are:
saba karim :has got great experience of coaching on television.remember him telling how sachin shuda played ,after the matches on a virtual pitch??
maninder singh :will definetly keep team india on high.thre goes the problem of low self belief
sidhu :will not be short of words to keep the team motivating.
sachin : will solve so many other problems as well

Emburey may be the second best
But then the EGO factor may come into play
Mr.Emburey may also decline for the post of coach as he may say that I am being brought in as a replacement after Mr.Ford refused for the same

Lets see
What BCCI do in this regard

i mean greg was selected by his panel....why werent they questioned??? or when he suggested that john (wats his name??????) fr the current position....i mean the guy has been pathetic in his county stints too....did any one bother to ask him his reasons fr suggestin such a name....????

shastri steppud up wen we needed a manager fr bangladesh..... certainly respect him more.... :satisfie:

if only bedi could be a bit more sensible when it comes to his own comments....especially the ones he gives in "MATCH KA MUJRIM" or wateva crap on star news.....:grab:

And when the team was abt to tour Eng and the rest, he cited contractual obligations Got the point?

Overall, do agree with Bedi...Sunil has gotten away with way too much for way too long...Bedi aint no saint but the point is, someone had to speak out against Sunil...Was long overdue...Ofcourse, that he'll continue to remain the same old person is a given as well...

Both gavaskar and shashtri belong to the breed of crickters who owe a lot to game but when it comes
to giving back something they jess shirk, ian chappel is other from this breed.this breed knows how to position their brand and 've successfully put themselves as elite of the game.
shastri was quick to take the 'resposibility' when team was touring bangladesh .we all know that it was win win situation for him with nothing to loose everything to gain.same wid gavaskar he doesnt mind heading pitch commities or technical commities as long as it helps him to be in the 'circle of power' where he can play his backstage games.
bedi with all his flaws, has always been keen to give indian cricket something back whether as a selector or as manager even as a coach of regional teams .
