Absolutely!!.....Thats why I felt reasonably confident when Browne got out to be replaced by Bradshaw....thought he wouldn't crack under presure.....but God!..what an ugly hoick!

btw, was lucky to catch the last 5 overs of the match live! ....Back from a late night at office, switch on the TV expecting to see the prize distribution or something and surprise!...28 runs required off 30 balls! ...cool!!...would have hated to miss the conclusion of a nail-biter like this one...

Hey, this(naming of 30 probables) has got me thinking.. What would the current World -11 look like??

My pick:
For ODIs

1 A Gilchrist
2 V. Sehwag
3 R. Ponting
4 Jacques Kallis
5 Inzamam Ul Haq
6 Damien Martin
7 Andrew Flintoff
8 Shaun Pollock
9 Mc Grath
10 Ntini
11 Murali

What say peeps??

I guess no. 1,2,3,4,5,7,9 should be automatic.. Debatable would be Ntini/Gillespie/Akhtar.
also Murali/warne.. or Damien Martin/Lara/Dravid/Sarvan.. Obv. if its Lara then, order can be changed.

cheers,
shalin..

some changes as i see it - 13-05-2005, 03:31 PM

all in all...a well picked team....
some changes that i see fit are as follows:
warne in place of murali for sure....warne is the ultimate spin bowler.....can help with the bat too...else..if batting is not an issue with a world class lineup anyway..then one all rounder can be sacrificed in order to have both warne and murali...
u rightly did not include sachin...no way he can be there with the current form (read woeful form) he's in at the moment....
sarwan...not following windies cricket for quite some time..so dunno if he fits in....
can we think of having lara in place of inzy...i think so....

I feel sorry for teetotallers....When they wake up every morning, they feel as good as they are going to feel all day!!!

.

how abt this one-----------
1)gilchrist.
2)clarke.
3)ponting
4)kallis
5)pieterson.
6)flintoff.
7)symonds
rana naved ......can bowl well at the death too
9)mcgrath.
10)murali .......... 'coz warne has retired from ODIs.
11) ntini/nel.

pieterson, flintoff n symonds can b arranged in any order.......... they'll provide the BIG hitting..... .
picked clarke ahead of sehwag..... viru's not in the best of form in ODIs... clarke did open the batting for aussies in the VB series n had lots of success..... .

kallis can bat as the ancher man at no.4 ...tht shd allow the rest of the team to unleash HELL on the opposition.... .

6 regular bowlers..... clarke n symonds can also chip in if needed......

all excellent fielders..... kallis, clarke n flintoff can b the slippers.... ponting at point... symonds at cover/mid-wicket... no easy singles on offer to the opposition.

God made men so that they can spread their seeds around n made women to restrict it to one crop per field.

nice team nishant..but i would like to make some replacements keepin in view recent forms of players and other factors...

gayle inplace of clarke..(gayle is in superb form...n he is a gud wicket taker in dire straits)
shoaib malik inplace of pieterson...(i think malik is arguably a better batsmen than kevin..n ya...keep aside the ICC n malik bowling action trouble)

and i would choose....ntini ahead of nel...experience counts...

.

i thought of gayle too .... went for clarke 'coz he's so much better in the field .... he has a great left arm .... n is a much better runner between the wickets.... abt gayle's bowling at death .... i thought mcgrath n rana naved would do the job.. plus clarke n gilly would also give me the l/h r/h combination.

malik is a no.3 .... he's been in great form at no. 3 for pukes..... so to me it was malik vs ponting .... n i went for punter!!!. at 5,6 and 7 i want big hitters.. n pieterson certainly is one... he hits straight n big!!! thts wht i like

ntini vs nel ..... i like nel's energy .... he's a trier... has a big heart... ntini on the other hand ... as u mentioned is more experienced... can b very effective to left handers... i dnt mind either...
