An Amazing Graphic Demo , will blow your minds off - 04-01-2004, 01:12 PM

Ok..now that coming from me sound a wee bit weird .. I just chanced upon a graphic demo with a total size of 64KB ! It has sound, graphics in 3D and texturing that just cannot be imagined to be contained in a demo of that size!

Jaw dropping, simply due to the scope of the graphic/music compression. I've checked the files for viruses n all. Rest assured its perfectly clean. So what are you waiting for. Just download the attached file and run the enclosed .exe file to start the demo.

After watching the demo, I would normally assume the size of the demo to be in excess of 150MB, but heck.. how in the world was it done in 64KB is a mystery beyond me.

Happy Viewing.

Amazing graphics! the sheer size of the file makes you sit up and take notice! I really wonder how they were able to compress within 64kb...btw is this file platform independent? Can anyone out here with LINUX OS test it? Something for the gaming programmers to think abt!

The first time it didn't load right but when I tried it a second time - it was like WOAH !!! Awesome !!! Man, I can only imagine if all the songs and movies and games could be cut down to such sizes - Kazaa would run on overload

You need DirectX 8 as a minimum requirement to run the graphic file. Install it. Should be found in any of the CHIP/PCQuest CDs

64K => Very little space => very little DB => more real time generation.

Model : The basic mesh should have been real time generated based on some geometerical functions.

Textures: Heavy repeatations of some small textuers and real time generation like in heightmaps.

Audio: Base must've been Midi/ Midi-type. Heavy repeatition and realtime gen again.

The above is only how I THINK this'ld have been done. Waitin for ya links AS. We cant generate/store normal audio and movies like this. Natural environment has too many details most of which are too complicated to be generated on the fly. Games have lots of complications like collision detection, simulation of physics, etc.. I'm not sure if these kindsa terrains can be used for games. I am not even sure if this thing would be so small had it been a fly thru instead of a demo with a set-path. Way too many redundancies seem exploited to give any user freedom.
