Blog.. umm... any serious suggestions for blogging software except Movable Type, Grey Matter .. and their derivatives ?

Most blog software won't allow you to have multiple blogs in a single DB. But we need that. I can't go about creating new databases for each and every blog we create here.

Ok O browsin Junta..

Let me know if you come across any personal ( not commercial ) websites that offer user "blogs", but without them being blog creators or blog software code owners.

I am not talking about cos like rediff, blogger, blogspot. But have you seen blogs being offered as a service by personal websites ?

Just need to check them out to see what kind of solutions they provide, so that we can try to go for the same.

Ok.. we ARE almost near ALFA testing stage for the blogs.

I need BETA testers..or is it ALFA testers (?) . After loads of research, boiled it down to 2 software and after installation and initial checking, I guess MT ( Movable Type ) it is going to be .. atleast until you folks validate it as the blog of choice and can handle the high end configuration it can dish out.

What I need from you - Loads of free time

, HTML knowledge ( basically for checking templates and modifying them ) and well... the propensity to blog

Initially I will be setting up test blogs in the format of : pagalguy.com/nameoftheblog , later when we provide it to end users it will be modified to user.pagalguy.com

Will talk about blog setup and other issues later, only once I am sure the blogs are .. manageable and a worthwhile idea.

hmmm .. idea seems to be nice .. go ahead ..

i can help you in testing the stuffs ... i installed mt on netfirms last thursday .. it's not that PIA as i anticipated .. did that in two hours flat ..
and their default templates are also perfect .. a few tweaks here n there and i got it how i wanted it to be ..

but what is needed to test .. ?? .. i am not in a mood to shift my blog again .. i hv already shifted from rediffblog to blogspot (thinking to shift to LJ .. courtesy shub's brand promotion tactics .. ) .. and then dropped to my own free domain which i created a long time back ..

also .. as per my understanding .. in this case, creating a dummy user should do the needful .. and when some PGite requests .. copy paste the folder under that user's username folder .. a second installation shouldn't be needed .. cuz almost all the other parameters 'll be same except the folder's path .. not sure though if this 'll work ..

btw .. nice skin (of pg.com) .. i saw it the other day on phpbb.com .. really liked it ..

Not really sure. I am still trying to isolate the set of files not actually used in a "user's" blog. Plus while testing yesterday I was able to create a second blog even without moving those files into the user directory. This way, only the index.html for the new blog comes up in the new blog , but with all the functionalities.

So what is the use of the other directories ? Let me know if you find an answer to this as , if I didn't have to copy directories to individual user accounts, it tends to be a lot easier for me.

Also need to check, what kind of functionality is lost of the directories are not moved in.

PG you can mail me with a template or things like that and I Will fix them @ my leisure time and post the results back to you.
Coming to the blogging s/w installation things, i dont know much abt them and cant really help you in that part.
