Cryptic Clues,Cross Word Enthusiasts Haven :Crossword - 06-04-2006, 12:42 AM

Crossword afficionadoes like me, come and connect.
Let's put one clue at a time and see if we can crack it.
I tried this on another thread called "wordgame!!!" but the kids of CAT2006 started cribbing that I invaded their prep thread. So. I'll start afresh here.

Here are the ones which were solved there by a stud.

My mother and I went to the lion's house with an unmarried women.- 6 letters.

Ans: MAIDEN ---> Mother -- Ma
I-----I
Lion's house--> Den
Unmarried woman------> Maiden

Stay Cool in parent's absence as their responsibility is substituted by someone else. (2,4,8 )

cool in parent's is anagram for the answer which is defined in the later part of the sentence.

Ans: In Loco Parentis

Here's the one he couldn't:

"He snarled at the public disrepute he was put to".--> 7 letters.

Prayers are all....

Good to come across this thread.
Solving cryptic are we..
Haven't been able to ace that.
Pretty decent with quick clues.

Keep posting,this might be interesting.
Will get back to you if I can solve that clue.

Excellent! Slander is also defined in the latter part of the clue as 'public disrepute'.

Next thecky cryptic: Simple this time...

William raids the cue-game parlour to make some quick bucks.-->(9).
