Lightbulb Habits Of Highly Effective People - 13-03-2006, 09:49 AM

hello evvry1 this is abhishek from kolkata and i have got admission in icfai gurgaon which im taking up.

From childhood i have always been in awe of highly successful people in any field of life and have always wondered what is tht diffrentiates these people from the others who remain average throughout their life.

is it just abt being at the right place at the right time?is it all inborn?what is it tht makes such people turn evry adversity into an oppurtunity.

i have been lucky to have closely observe my own brother who is a gad from FMS and i have tried to observe what is tht the 2 years have taught him.

And i was amazed as to much changes there were in him.
as i embark on a very important road of the journey of my life-i wonder what is it tht i should learn and what is tht i can change about myself.

i would like evry1 to drop in with their observations of effective pple and wht makes thm effective.

well i havent read the 7 habits of highly effective pple book as i dont beileve in them.

but im sure life teaches us more thn books and if we can conciously inculcate even a fraction of its learnings into our day-day life-we can never fail.

i would start with what i have observed:

1,-A very clear vision-know wht u wanna do in life-the bigger picture

2.Very strong common sense and understanding of people and situations-and when to react how.

3.core beliefs,principles and value-u live by

4.hard work-nothing comes without it-thrs no shortcut

5.a lender and nt a borrower-never give ur probs to others-thy have lots of their own anways-do something for others if u can rather.

6.commitment to excellence-whtevr u do-do it like there is no tommorow

7.humility-in ims book i read this intresting quotation-a man is like a fraction whoes numerator is wht he is and denominator is wht he thinks he is-the higher the denominator the lower the fraction

8-positive attitude-down bt nevr out-impossible is nothing

9.Face problems head on-lots of pple including me ahve sometime tries to run away from probs-like if i didnt get into mba-lets takeup a job-if im nt best in tht job-lets change to another company/job----if one faces problems and adresses thm-it will be easier in the long run-though difficult in the immediate present.

10. Honesty and Respect for each and every thing in life.

11.balanced life-health money spirit mind

12.It is passion which drives u to achieve heights in ur field and hence is absolutely necessary

mods i hope this thread isnt banned-i searched for similar threads but coudnt find any-so plez excuse me if im wrong.

So guys please pitch in and lets discuss whts tht element which makes avrage pple over perform and over performers under perform.

regards

abhishek

Its nice thing..
First and Foremost thing is Honesty and Respect for each and every thing in life.
THen we can see the real beauty unfolding before us..
Then one would be able to appreciate even the most minor aspects of life and you will start living full life...

@ abhishek kewl work boss
however offlately i was also tryin to figure out wat it takes to be a winner and came through smthin goog.
LIFE NEEDS A BALANCE.
1. HAVE A CLEAR MIND
2.BE ROMANTICALLY SATISFIED.
3 HAVE A HEALTHY BODY
4 HAVE A HEALTHY SPIRIT
5 BE FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT.

now we all just need to talk to ourselves and find wat we have to do to creat that balance.
only then we might be able to fight our problems and emerge as winners.

most imp of all try to be conciousely happy with wat u doin .

That is an awesome post Abhishek.... I think i will memorize all the points u have listed and make sure, they stay in my conscious...

I believe that u need a passion, no matter whatever work u do.... If u are a doctor, u should be passionate about medicine... If u are a lawyer, u should be passionate about law... If u are an engineer, likewise.... etc etc... It is passion which drives u to achieve heights in ur field and hence is absolutely necessary.... Passion might not be always there, but has to be created...

regards,
gaurav

dont quite agree......isnt it better to go step by step, doing the best u can at whatever u attempt.........when u begin wid the end in mind, have one eye on the goal....... u'll have to carry on wid just the other....... probably quit enjoying the journey itself........

My idea of the mantra of HOHEP:

* 'GIVE your best' with no thoughts of what you get in return.
* Learn something everyday & from everyone you meet. Growing & learning process should be life long.
* Face adversities with a smile (i mean keeping cool even during crisis situation, that is the real test in life)
*Passion in whatever u do.
*out of box thinking.... be differrent, innovative.
*Last but the most important "implement all the above mantras"

Oppurtunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work..........
