Afghanistan
Hint: Both cricket | Is "Little Bird" Larry Gomes by any chance? And Yea Afghanistan is Mark "Junior" Waugh. The Aussies do come up with some of the most imaginative nicks!!! A recent one is Sarfraz - anyone want to guess whose nickname that is??
EDIT : Ronti waiting for all the answers to the ones you posed "Now the rest of the world knows what we know - We're going to leave as champions, just like in '86."

LH | Yeah, garrincha was also known as that. So, I specified it was cricket as the footer one was too easy
And no, it's not Bill Lawry! Quote: |

Ronti came close actually, but not quite there. "Little Bird" was an example of the West Indian sense of humour. Joel Garner was called Big Bird due to his height. When Curtly Ambrose came onto the scene, he was a half inch shorter than Garner and was therefore named...'Little' Bird
Cheers!

Originally Posted by Aimar EDIT : Ronti waiting for all the answers to the ones you posed | Well, most have already been answered, but here's the complete list: Formula 1: The Professor: Alain Prost Quick Nick: Nick Heidfeld The IceMan: Kimi Raikonnen Rubinho: Rubens Barrichello Tiger Tokens: In the newest qualifying format in Formula 1, qualifying is divided into 3 sessions based on elimination. In the third and final round, 10 drivers are left and each must start the session with the intended fuel load for the next day’s race. All the fuel burned in this final session, as long as each of their laps finishes within 110% of their individual best lap time is replenished to them by FIA. This is known as ‘Tiger Tokens’. For example: Say a driver started the third session with a certain amount of fuel load and did 4 qualifying laps – one will be his best, along with three others. Out of the three remaining, if two are within 110% of his best time, and one is not, then FIA will replenish 3 laps worth of fuel (his best + two others) at the end of qualifying…….that one slowest lap is not eligible for fuel replacement using Tiger Tokens. Yellow Teapot: The yellow here relates to Renault…………in the 1970’s Renault had introduced a first V6 turbo charged engine with which they enjoyed tremendous success in Le Mans and Formula 2……this was a 2L engine………..because of its success, Renault brought it into its F1 cars and actually scaled it down to a 1.5L engine to improve reliability………..ironically, this engine failed to produce even a single finish, retiring in each and every race that it took part in…..and hence was called the “Yellow Teapot”. Red Baron: The one and only… The Boss: Jos ‘The Boss’ Verstappen The Doctor: Valentino Rossi Football: The Swan of Utrecht: Marco Van Basten The Black Spider: Lev Yashin, coz he was usually in balck and seemingly had 8 arms The Divine Ponytail: Roberto Baggio The Black Tulip: Ruud Gullit The Bomber: Gerd Muller, coz he was prolific added to the fact that he was german The Black Panther: Eusebio Cricket: Buckets: Brian Mcmillan, coz his huge hands were like a bucket at slip, never spilling anything Muscles: V.Raju, for lack of any. Rolls Royce: Michael Holding, for his ultra smooth, and ‘glide-by’ action Big Bird: Joel Garner (6’8”) White Lightening: Allan Donald Chess: Lightning Kid: Vishy Anand The Patriarch: Botvinnik, coz of his famous school the products of which included the 3 K’s – Kasparov, Karpov and Kramnik The Wizard of Riga: Tal Golf: The Great White Shark: Greg Normal The Golden Bear: Jack Niclaus Fuzzy: Fuzzy Zoeller Lefty: Phil Mickelson Big Easy: Ernie Els (Golf’s equivalent of Michael “Rolls Royce” Holding) The Black Knight: Gary Player, because of his company Black Knight International Tennis: Boom Boom: Boris Becker Guga: Gustavo Kuerten A-Rod: Andy Roddick Pistol: Pete Sampras Muscles: Ken Rosewall (nicked thus for the same reason as Raju) SuperBrat: John McEnroe Las Vegas Kid: Andre Agassi | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
