Excellent post Soumitra ! i couldn't agree more with you regarding what you have posted
Yes winning is all about getting the balance right and the 1-0 and nicking a draw even when you are not at your best . All great teams who win the league have that quality .
All I want to say is it is unfortunate that Arsenal did not win anything this season .
And our quality entertaining football is not at all an excuse for not winning , it would certainly have been a bonus had we had trophies to show at the end of it .
Still Wenger will follow his philosophy regarding how the team plays - he will always want to play the kind of football that entertains and excites , but yes trophies are important too ..

Got this link on Beeb BBC NEWS | Business | 'Record' Premier League wage bill . I had heard Wenger's i/v sometime back regarding Arsenal being a good paymaster, still it came as a surprise with them being so close to United and Liverpool. Excuse me if anyone posted this link before. This thread moves so fast, it's very hard to keep track these days. Once upon a time I used to visit various footie sites/BBC/Guardian etc for all the news and views. Now, I just visit FC@PG. Keep it up

Actually I don't mind having both the threads. It will be difficult for a few days, but once Euro starts, I expect this one to slow down a lot. Even the transfer talk generally gets stalled and will resume after the Euro.
A problem with merging the two is that Euro thread will be lightning quick next month. And any other talk about club or transfers that time could get lost in it.

Man the thread moves really fast.
Had posted something about Arsenal - anvesh- sumitrocks- coolroy and whamooz! The discussion is done.
Anyways, jose+arsene = great football. Attacking defensively
As for the two threads - rockball said it all. I suggest let the two threads run.
Cheers.

Yes, his name is Sir Alex Ferguson...
Anyone remember the 4-0 against Arsenal and the same team playing the 0-0 against Barca???
It's a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you're Man Utd, in which case you let the other teams get ahead and then start sprinting as they all fall apart.

Hank Ten Cate's contract at the bridge has been terminated. ..it's going to be a complete change of management. I won't be too surprised to see Steve Clarke being sacked soon. I hope Roman knows what he's doing. I personally thought Clarke was good!!

Media reports suggest that this reduces the probability of raaijkaard coming to chelsea...with mancini & scolari becoming frontrunners...
expectedly...I dnt have much idea about mancini(how many times am i going to need rockball & getintoiimb's help?:innocent
I am not sure how scolari will fare at club level...he certainly has done well with national teams..
its all good firing staff if the club thinks they havent done well...but they have to make sure the next Manager & his team get ample time to work...cause if chelsea get a string of bad results at the start of the season...who knows..

Man Roman is on a rampage.
I dont know how such a drastic change is going to affect players with contract renewals coming up (read Lampard).
(sigh) Chelsea sure must be feeling blue. Hope Kenyon isnt shown the door.
Cheers.

Can't really figure out what Abramovich is up to. :eh: Of course, Ten Cate's sacking does imply that Rijkaard will not be joining the Blues...I hope Chelsea do get a good manager who can not only put up a realistic fight for silverware, but also get them to play 'beautiful' football.
Another thing I'd like to see is the new manager putting an end to the 'mob' mentality that some Chelsea players have.... gheraoing the ref, and stuff.
P.S. Wishing Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, a very happy b'day :happybday:
