Indian Football
4 Teams to be promoted next season to I-league were decided yesterday...
Mumbai FC
Vasco SC
Chirag United
Mohammedan Sporting
they will join 8 teams in I-League (2 teams will be relegated Viva Kerala and Salgaocar, it was confirmed by AIFF)
East Bengal
Mohun Bagan
Mahindra United
Air India FC
Dempo SC
Sporting Club de Goa
JCT
Churchill Brothers
AFC Cup:
Dempo drew with Al Ansar (Away tie) 1-1...they were leading for most of the game but Al Ansar drew level at 86th Minute.
East Bengal drew with Safa FC 0-0.
These two teams still have a chance to qualify for the next round.
P.S: Mumbai FC beat Indian bank 2-0 with Abhishek Yadav scoring both the goals

Flamini is on his way out for sure. Wenger seems to have lined up Noble from West Ham or Scott Parker as his replacement. According to me Flamini is a huge loss. He drives the team and would've been the captain by next year
Hleb too is deep into talks with Inter. So, to me, he too is on his way out.
This brings me to a pertinent question. the advantages to having English players. Foreign players aspire to play in the continent. And thus would leave after a certain stage. This is the reason why I wouldn't mind if Ronaldo leaves after a few more seasons.
There's very little advice in men's magazines, because men don't think there's a lot they don't know. Women do. Women want to learn. Men think, "I know what I'm doing, just show me somebody naked.

Re: Football Club -

This article is almost 10 days old but caught my attention... though it can be rumors but querioz visting lisbons adds fuel to fire...
Fergie Plots £40m Spending Spree
Big spending Manchester United may be odds-on for the title now, but that won't stop manager Sir Alex Ferguson splashing the cash once more this summer. The Scot has already highlighted four potential signings and is willing to spend £40m.
Having had success with Nani and, notably, Cristiano Ronaldo it appears Fergie is planning to stick to what works best by raiding Portuguese side Sporting yet again.
Queiroz The Portuguese Link
A report in this morning's Sun claims that Lions stars Miguel Veloso and Joao Moutinho top United's wishlist, with assistant manager Carlos Queiroz once again set to be heavily involved in swaying the pair towards a move to Old Trafford.
The Portuguese was in the crowd last week as Sporting lost at home to Rangers in the UEFA Cup as preparations for a £30m joint-bid reach their conclusion.
Wigan Raid Also?
Both stars would likely be involved in this summer's Euro 2008 before linking up with United, but two other targets are far closer to home, however, in Wigan Athletic duo Wilson Palacios and Luis Antonio Valencia. The Red Devils reckon they can force the Latics' hand with a bid of £10m for the pair.
As was the case last season, Fergie seems intent on moving sharply and concluding his transfer activities within days of the window opening so that the focus can return to the football side of things as soon as possible.
So its Wilson Palacios 22 years (M) , Valencia 23 years ((LW, RW), Veloso 21 years (DM, CB, LB) and Moutinho 21 years (AM)... But where is the striker? I expect Saha to the only departure from the club..
All the players talked about are very young..
From the lot only Veloso for me with his multitasking roles will suit the club.. I think it will be one/ two from this lot... and big name striker signing for us... If we win the UCL then everyone would be tempted to join us...
Ciao..

"They say Football's a matter of life and death - but it's more important than that" - Bill Shankly
P.S. Searching for the exact quote took 0.27 seconds, according to Google. If you add the time taken to type 'Bill Shankly' in the search box, and click Enter, it doesn't take more than 5 seconds, I assure you.

Good idea!! Vaise I don't have a C convert, but I'd love to see Oliver Kahn in action.
P.S. Folks, I've been deliberately spamming this thread with one-liners to drive home three points:
1) Quoting the entire post doesn't help. Please quote only relevant sections.
2) Writing single line posts doesn't add value (normally). Of course, there are exceptions.
3) You can write about multiple posts in one post itself, by using the multi-quote option. You don't need to make 3-4 different posts to reply to 3-4 people.
No offence meant anyone, I was just trying to demonstrate a point. Apologies for spamming. :innocent:

These are, as per me, a requirement list, priority wise.
1. Striker: Noone will argue that we need an out and out striker with pace and ariel abilities. although not someone established because he will be coming off the bench. we would not require this if Balsa Boy remained fit.
2. ACM. A bit controversial. We have 4 central midfielders. Carrick and Hargo sit deep. Scholsey doesn't have the legs nor the goal scoring prowess. Not to mention that he he wont play all matches. Anderson was bought as his replacement. Im a huge fan of his but he is more combative and has as much an eye for goal as an 80 year old goal keeper. United have struggled a bit for goals from midfield and that player who constantly bombs forward and has finnese
I am not adding RB because Brown has signed and Hargo does a good job there.
Possible Targets
ST: Gomez, Huntelaar
ACM: Moutinho, Nevez, Possebon(already in Reserves)
As far as Veloso goes, he is a technically superior version of O'Shea. I would never let O'Shea leave hence no Veloso for me.
Wigan pair!!! They are just not good enough. The entire rumour started when Querioz went to the Wigan and Birmingham match. I think Querioz was there to look at Zarate and not the other 2.
United will splurge because they have the money coz they win alot
Lastly, i think Quiroz is reponsible for all this. He is building a Portugese speaking contingent so that when SAF leaves, United have no choice but to appoint him as manager.
There's very little advice in men's magazines, because men don't think there's a lot they don't know. Women do. Women want to learn. Men think, "I know what I'm doing, just show me somebody naked.

If this happens... then i feel it will be the downfall (excuse the word, i couldn't get a better word) of arsenal next season... Flamini and Hleb were instrumental in the gunner's title challenge this season... if they leave then, arsene wenger's team for the future will be depleted again and he'll have to start from scratch...

More midfielders.... thats something we really don't need... I think SAF may buy veloso... We urgently need a CF and some defensive backup...
my recommended buys for this season : David Villa for striker and Philipp Lahm to bolster the defence...
I was thinking about how people seem to read the holy books a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me . .
they're cramming for their final exam...

Re: Football Club -

flamini and hleb moving away from arsneal will be the worst thing to happen to arsenal in recent seasons. We all saw what happens to arsenal when falmini is not on pitch. Hleb struggled in his early days but now he is as settled as anyone else...
talking of united i would love to see santacruz in united (blackburn have so many ex united , let us have one ex balckburn ) in defense Phillip Lahm (as some one suggested) will be good...if i am not wrong he plays as left back, it means he have to spend some time on bench, so it will be difficult to lure him away from bayern. We definately need a left back to cover for evra (silvestre is no good) can't suggest any names though....
WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER MIDFIELDER...we have so many that we can play a whole match only with midfielders
Saha should go.
can't comment on Portuguese duo (haven't seen them). Wigan duo not upto mark.
only one that SAF might be interested in is Zarate, but its too soon to comment..
@Polpot: nice observation about quieroz building portugese camp to make him a successor to SAF.
