Just wanna make a small point....some of these players have been bought for the future, so you can judge whether they are good buys or not..only after the nxt 2 seasons..e.g
Torres ( no one expected him to have this good a season..!!)
Leiva ( he's one for the future..!!)
Babel ( improved as season goes by..!!)
Leto ( clearly for the future )
Dnt know how they can be labelled as flops/bad money spent without seeing their potential....
Rafa has always said we are improving, but we are still far frm the top...n I agree to him..!!
guess someone forgot sissoko's sale too....dnt remember which club..
As for Ruud's record I was referring to his league record in 1st season....guess Torres is pretty close to that...!!! ( yes I am talkin abt his 1st season...kaun jaane what future holds for him.!!!)

On the topic of transfers, Rafa has made some really bad signings. Since the past 3-4 years, only Gerrard's name pops up when asked for a threat in their team. That sums it up. Torres worked well but there really was no risk in getting him. It was just a matter of money.
Even MU have spent quite a bit. Just spending money like 17m on someone like Hargreaves is a lot. He is a good player and may fit in well but too overpriced for that. Bayern did great in their transfers with such sales and getting Toni and Ribery for reasonable amounts.
Speaking of which they are trailing 1-0 now.

How can you forget selling off such a bad player and pocketing a whopping 12m for him!!:eyepop: uppydog:
But very very surprisingly he has done well in his brief spell at Juve.

well bhai.. its not just about Leto and Leiva.. me and polpot have already pointed out there have so many bad signings... I dont know why you raising a point when such an exhaustive data has been put infront of you...
Ok Sissoko is shipped to Juventus ( my fav italian club)... for around 7 million pounds... does it change a lot... Sissoko isnt 12 million pounds rockball, I follow Juventus very closely ( you might be talking in Euros here )
You said Torres breaking ruud record... he needs 6 goals in 2 games.... when u talk about things like that... you may than even say he can bang in 7 or 8 and overtake Ronaldo.. come on you know internally chances of this happening arent even .1 %.... which player has scored back to back hat-trick in the premiership... I think zilch... would make a nice question?
Ciao..

Bhai jaan was referring to this
Kuyt backs Torres to take record - Liverpool FC - LFC Online
Torres currently has 22 league goals to his name, one short of Ruud Van Nistlerooy's record of 23. However, Dirk Kuyt believes his Liverpool team mate will break his international team mate's record before the end of the season.
guess we can move to greener pastures now...rather than cribbing on nitty-gritties..!!!

Actually, people forget an important aspect of these signings. toni and Ribery were bought much cheaper than many others in their standard and bracket but the wage they are paid are phenomenol. Add to that Toni is 31 years old.
Algati, strikers are bought to score goals. Kuyt does not figure in the top 10 goal scorers list nor the top 10 assists provider list... Even Gerrard and Gareth Barry have scored more than him in the BPL. Tell me if thats a hit player? In the BPL 29 appearences, 3 goals...... Overall 44 appearences 11 goals thats 0.25 per match.. .Even Rooney shoots better
It's a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you're Man Utd, in which case you let the other teams get ahead and then start sprinting as they all fall apart.

Hot hot news......
Jose Mourinho is close to agreeing a deal to take over as the new Inter Milan manager. (The Times)
Wayne Rooney's hip injury will keep him out of Man Utd's last two league games. (The Sun)
