Last night's matches didn't really spring too many surprises. The only element of surprise was SAF's team selection. But, he had expressed great belief in his reserves, and they upheld it with a victory. Of course, the missed penalty helped too. In fact, it shouldn't really have been a penalty (in my opinion), so I'm glad it didn't give Roma an ill-deserved draw.
Barcelona are increasingly looking creaky. Honestly, I feel they're no match for United, if they keep up their current form. They'll need to make their men stand up and be counted, if they're to avoid being kicked out. Of course, they have the players to give United a run for their money, but they will need to give it their 120%. I think it's Clive Tyldesley who says, "They have a better team on paper, but then, games are not won on paper." Or is it Andy Townsend? (Lemme know if anyone can.)

me too started on similiar lines... starting off with FIFA 98 though... as the case with most people with limited football gyaan that time there was only one team worth supporting in football - BRAZIL... and everyones favourite player was ronaldo and roberto carlos...
Then came along wonder boy - david beckham... shifted my focus to Man Utd... god knows i might have shifted loyalties to another club had it not been for that magical year 1999... stuck on since then...
International level i love England and Netherlands... loved the dutch 2002 world cup team, though now a few other names have slipped whom i dont know about... nowadays its just England matches that i follow....

oh almost forgot..I also play as CF whenever i get the time.. in FIFA' 08...
A few other doubts about Italian football :
1) Is anything and everything related to Italian football sponsored by Kappa???
2)Whats the reason behind Italian teams wearing skin-tight outfits as their uniform... i've seen it both in the league and also when Italian national team plays...
P.S : i'm sorry if these q's seem like spamming coz they are not necessarily related to football but hey life's not all about statistics and analysis is it...

Isn't that a line from the EA SPORTS FIFA game... i think it comes when the starting lineups are shown before the start of a match...

Man United: Red Devils make history with 11 consecutive wins :
Manchester United’s 1-0 win at Old Trafford against Roma last night was a record breaking one as they wrote themselves into the history books by being the only team to record 11 consecutive home wins in the Champions League.
Their previous game against Olympique Lyonnais last month put them as joint record holders alongside Turin giants Juventus.

The match turned out to be very easy. Roma huffed and puffed but could not create more than 2 clear cut opportunities. Guess its going to be Barca now. There were only 3 things that were of any significance yesterday.
1. De Rossi's missed penalty
2. Hargreaves' crosses. He is amazing at right back.
3. Gary came back.....

Amazing record, i must say.
What is the record for maximum matches won continuous (home + away)?
That line is by Clive Tyllesedly (check the spelling), i think. Amazing series, that FIFA one. i suppose all of us play it here. BTW, how many of you play the SEGA football manager series?

Yes it is, and the two folks I named are ITV's commentators who've voiced over for FIFA. Another line from that game that I love is 'Anfield has been here since 1884, Andy and I not so long.'
Brilliant commentary, I say. Apart from one major bug in FIFA 08, I love it. Has anyone else also faced it? When you shoot at the goal, and shoot off-target, sometimes the commentators praise the goalie for making a wonderful save, even though the goalie was nowhere in the picture.
And I am a great fan of FIFA 06's intro....fantastic work done....when the voice says...'You are Ronaldinho...you are ...wayneeee rooney...' it really gives me a high....though they should've said, "You are Steven Gerrard."

Its no surprise Madrids decline and Chelsea's rise co-incided with the departure and arrival of makelele in the two clubs.
Tho, to be honest, now I think he's a bit past it...a bit slower at breaking attacks these days and now resorts to fouling players, sometimes in dangerous positions. Still a safer bet than Mikel who looks like he's could well get there one day..he's learning from the master himself after all!
On why I support Chelsea it's since my favoritist player of all time Ruud Gullit was player and manager at the time that I started following the PL...had to choose one team so I chose the Blues. Tho I have to put my hand up and say that I fall a bit into the glory supporters category because although I was a Chelsea fan since the Gullit days and loved the open attacking play under vialli and with Zola, I only fanatically started supporting Chelsea in the Roman era after the victories started coming in.

even my fascination for EPL started with watching Gianfranco Zola play for chelsea before the blues were a big name and later was hooked on to the game after my parents moved to durgapur in football crazy west bengal and was addicted to the game after 2002 WC .....

hi..
i got all the four semi-finalists right(big deal!! huh)
weel the results were on the expected lines, but the team selection was surprising to say the least..no rooney, ronaldo, evra....and ferdinand included in team(thank god he is fit)...about yesterday's match united deserved to win by atleast 2 goal margin...
my MOTM was owen hargreaves...in first 20 mins only he created 2-3 chances..he was simply outstanding...and i think this was his best performance in united shirt..
barca looks very fragile at this moment and i think we should overcome their challenege and continue our march to finals...
gems from ten sport "EXPERT TEAM"
1) arsenal dominated 3 out of 4hrs of play still they ended up on loosing style ( by kallu ex leeds player)
2) i am not too sure about all english final but i am sure about united going through but i am not too sure about the other semi.

Dude what do you mean by "i am not too sure about all english final but i am sure about united going through but i am not too sure about the other semi"
If ur not following CL properly the other SF is between Liverpool and Chelski
So MAN U make it to Final den it'll b an all english final
But i doubt Man U will make it
It'll b Liverpool vs Barca
And Liverpool winning the 6th time
