Re: Football Club -

well...barca & chelsea do have it easy..
but dont forget...fenerbahce beat sevilla to get here...who are a decent enough team...& if it wasn't for their keeper missing sitters...they wouldnt even have needed a penalty shootout to do it...
barca should win it...but so inconsistent have they been this season....that it wouldnt surprise me if they lose if messi hasn't returned by then...
regarding the other 2 matches ...i'll put my money on liverpool against arsenal...simply because they are better in europe & have only UCL to focus on...so rafa will definitely rest players...especially gerrard & torres....which will be decisive...
& on united...because unlike last season...they have far fewer injuries this time...& if their squad is fully fit...they might even go all the way...
cheers...

Re: Football Club -

my 2 cents
Arsenal Vs Liverpool.
Roma Vs Manchester United
Schalke Vs Barcelona
Fenerbahce Vs Chelsea.
arsenal liverpool
a close one , it really is. if i have to pick one, i'd say liverpool.(arguments welcome)
there'd be a lot of rotation in rafa's squad, players will be kept fresh for crucial matches. although they have to seal the 4th position in the league , the emphasis will be on champ league alone.
if i was to be in wenger's shoes i'd bank my team to go on and win the league. the emphasis will be on winning the BPL and not the champ league. yes, he'd go all out in the champ league, but BPL would be priority no.1
players to watch out for -
pool - torres,gerrard
arsenal - cesc , gallas
fenerbahce-chelsea
i'd go with chelsea (no arguments) .the match will be settled in the first leg itself. chelsea's got quality all around.
chelsea - frank 'i'll be moving to barca' lampard , drogba
fenerbahce -don know anyone , pls excuse , my sincere apologies!
schalke -barcelona
lucky catalans! period!
barca - henry
schalke - (no idea bout anyone)
roma - united
i'm going for a goalless draw at rome. united to seal the deal at old trafford
roma - mancini , totti
united - ronaldo , scholes
ps - messi would most probably miss the qf

roma vs. united..
where have i heard that 1?
he eh. these two teams seem made 4 each other nowadays in the UCL.
no 7-1 this time round, but i wud expect united to go through
chelsea shud beat fenerbahce, but need to guard against complacency.
fenerbahce have beaten gud teams to reach so far like jok3r said, including inter.
barca shud put paid to schalke's campaign, once and for all, with or without messi.
liverpool arsenal is definitely the most indecisive of the lot. most important factors cud b:
no stevie G @ emirates
fitness of arsenal squad.
but i think pool will nick it, especially becuz of rafa, who'se 2 gud in UCL.
so my S/F line up:
liverpool-chelsea (not again.. )
barca-united

True, the fact that Arsenal have Eduardo out, and Walcott and Rosicky have short-term injuries too, along with niggling injuries to others too, could be decisive in their challenge at both the UCL, and the EPL. Moreover, Liverpool's track record in the UCL stands them in good stead.
In addition, in between the legs, Liverpool and Arsenal play each other in the league too. Depending on the situation, Liverpool may be able to rest more players in that match, and be better prepared for the second leg.
United, Barcelona, and Chelsea should comfortably beat Roma, Schalke 04, and Fenerbahce respectively.
Had I been a betting man, I'd have put my money on Barcelona, Liverpool, Roma and Chelsea getting to the semis.
P.S. I am sure that United will win, but then, I don't want to bet on a rival club.

haha ...no wonder arsenal fans are missing from the thread...
tough..tough draw for arsenal...
but united would also have faced roma twice before 13th...it would be interesting to see the fitness levels of the players by that time...something arsenal have prided themselves upon this season...still united deifnitely have stronger depth to carry them thru that period...
13th will be a clincher in terms of the primier league:satisfie:....& looking at this schedule...seems to me that united will pull ahead....
& a barca - united clash in the semis will be ....i am just too bored of watching chelsea against liverpool...atleast mourinho's comments made it interesting...now even thats out....1 downside of having 4 premier league teams is having the same fixtures which we have watched repeatedly on the tele...the same fixtures take a little bit of the charm out of UCL...
madrid vs chelsea/liverpool...would have been more interesting
