Re: Football Club - 24-02-2008, 09:52 AM

dont u think mascharano should also had been sent off ... means he didnt need to do tht aliadiere... i am sure he is not his son... he was trying to wind up all the players... when he cannot do with the ball, do it with ur antics.... a red card for me if the advisory panel looks through....

WENGER BACKTRACKS

LONDON, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said his comments about Birmingham City defender Martin Taylor's tackle that broke striker Eduardo da Silva's left leg on Saturday were "excessive".
Interviewed shortly after witnessing the sickening injury to the Croatia international a furious Wenger initially said Taylor, who was sent off, "should never play football again".
However, in a statement posted later on the Premier League club's Web site (Arsenal.com) the Frenchman backtracked.
"It was a highly emotional afternoon and we were all shocked by the injury to Eduardo," said Wenger.
"On reflection, I feel that my comments about Martin Taylor were excessive. I said what I did immediately after the game, in the heat of the moment."
Arsenal dropped two points in the title race after James McFadden struck a penalty five minutes into stoppage time to give Birmingham a 2-2 draw.
Brazil-born Eduardo was treated on the pitch for nearly 10 minutes and carried off on a stretcher using an oxygen mask. He was taken straight to hospital.
Players from both sides held their heads in their hands with many visibly upset by what they had seen.
Taylor was said to be "distraught" over the injury to Eduardo, his manager Alex McLeish said.

Now i feel wenger behaved like an idiot, he is not into his first year of management to utter such comments... everyone knows there was not that much malice... he just hit bullseye... means this problem is with all the managers, mourinho, wenger and saf.... i hope they curb it down.... but i think wenger always goes overboard. he has no rights to make such a comment. and wenger is a complete ass... Too beat arsenal one has to kick arsenal... has he seen the amount of tackles ronaldo has to endure during every match...

Ciao...
Kris

Jose Mourinho recently claimed his side's Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a better player.

Ronaldo, though, has refused to be drawn into a war of words, adding: "I respect everyone's opinion. But the trophies that matter are at my house."

Kris, look at the groans you've got from the Arsenal fans. You should've put it in a better way. If people remember, about a month back Sir Alex also said something about players tackling hard on Ronaldo. Wenger has reacted saying its a part of the English game. Now, I know this tackle on Eduardo was bad and all such tackles should be kept out of the game. But Wenger has always been a bad loser,he's contradicting himself. Being a bad losermaybe partly a good thing but can get very annoying. He had a fight with Alan Pardew last season coz he lost to West Ham. i just can't look beyond the fact that now he's crying over tacles in the Premiership.

No, the easiest is to support Derby. I think they're invisible. They never expected to stay up.

ahem ahem, i see from your post the considerable amount of respect you've shown for SIR alex, but i wont get into mudslinging mode myself. i know it was a dig at kris for his comments about AW.but lets end it here.i presume he gave his views in the heat of the moment and i believe you did too.but there's no need for mudslinging whatsoever.

lets not make this another battleground.light banter is always welcome.cheers!

Re: Football Club - 24-02-2008, 07:30 PM

managers sometimes come up with such statements in the heat of the moment .. wenger has in fact retracted and taken back his statement .. taylor did not mean to intentionally injure eduardo , in fact even he is upset after seeing eduardo suffer from such a horrific blow which has ended his season .. arsenal dropped two points again .. they had all three in the bag but god knows what clichy was upto .. manchester united ripped apart a newcastle side whose defense is in absolute shambles .. i feel sorry for the magpies - their fans are some of the most passionate fans you will ever see and they don't deserve a shite performance like that ... coming to the posts above , i pity fans who indulge in mudslinging and having a go at the other clubs using inappropriate language .. learn to respect your rivals as well
