Time and again, football proves predictions wrong. Milan can be said to be, and not without some truth, a very disciplined side. That means nothing. It takes just that one moment of flair or one odd mistake to crack a team wide open.

I can see the anti Man United bunch expecting Milan to beat the Red Devils easily ... doubtless many of whom forecasted the same about the Arsenull visit to Old Trafford.

From what I heard on match tracker, live yesterday ( bas#$%^ cableguy ), it was an open game, which no doubt contributed to the goal fest, but as Mike says.. WITHOUT one of the world's most clinical strikers.

Crosses + Ruud + Scholes = bye bye Milan. ( and I've not taken Saha Smith and Rooney into the picture yet )

I sure would like to see some pure attacking flair from Barca .. this one is a must see. And I'm gonna wait to hear the post match comments of Mr JM

You betcha. See what happened to Man Utd in the first third of the season. Strikers on strike ( copyright "brat" ).

Well, Sheva is the European Footballer of the Year now! Yeah, I know, I'm a week behind the times, but I only just found out.....

Loved Bunger's comments on the award though.....

He says that the awards seem to be biased against English players (Is Monkeyface English?) He says that Monkeyface deserved it (Really??) and says that Monkeyface is better than "the players who win these awards" (Jeez!! Monkeyface better than Sheva??????????)

To call his comments ridiculous would be an understatement. How in Hell can you say Monkeyface is better than Sheva??? He says that Monkeyface scored nearly 40 in all competitions last year making him the "best player in Europe". Hell! RvN scored 44 the season before that and no1 debated that Nedved deserved the award!! As for Monkeyface.....oh, well, poor cry-baby.....just shows why I hate Bunger and his team....

one case of a non - offside i saw in EURO 2004 .... take the field from left to right ..

................................................. ...
................................................. ... .......................w.............
................................................. ...
................................................. ... ......................... goalie ..
................................................. ... ........ s ..........................
................................................. ...
................................................. ..
................................................. ..

w and s are the attackers.. there is no defender there.. say they're all behind s.... away from their own half.

S receives the ball from W. S is in an offside position. However, this wasnt given offside in EURO ( the real thing not the game ).. as W is offside too ..

Anyone with the rulebook ?

My vote for all round footballer:

1) John O'shea (simply because he has played in all positions except 'keeper, and has occasionally knocked ball into right net too!)

2) My friend Ashrut

and a bunch of others...Henry..........hmmmmmmm. A case of "Slap him, he's French!"

No rulebook required dude....it's not offside.....the offside rule applies to when you receive the ball from BEHIND......the situation is like this : W receives the ball when he is onside and makes a run past the defenders...so he is obviously NOT offside....S is behind W, though also past the defenders...so if W passes the ball to S, it is NOT offside....the offside rule applies only if S is AHEAD of W when he receives the ball.....as long as he is behind, it's a fair pass and not offside....

Cheers!
Mike

Saw the write-up on the Player of the Year today in the TOI ? Seems Henry has scaled the heights of the World Cup. Yeah rite, riding on Zizou's shoulders ?

On face value.. i think Ronaldinho should get the award as he was responsible for turning the fortunes of Barcelona, who were tottering last season at one stage...
Henry - not this year
and Shev has already won the European player award so i am thinking... he might just miss out now.

Do we have another thread to mourn Cristiano Junior of Dempo?? If not I think I can do it here itself. Its sad to see players die on the fields.....felt the same about Raman Lamba in cricket.

May their souls rest in peace.

Hmmm.......I wouldn't mind seeing the Red Devils adding to their midfield strength.....but on the evidence of Giggsy's absolutely stunning first-half performance, Scholes' recent run and Ronaldo's return to form, wonder if they really need to......actually their strikers seem to need a wake-up call more than anything else......Rooney was not really looking sharp yesterday (maybe that thigh injury had something to do with it, though I thought he picked that up midway thru the second-half)....and what about that miss from Smith??????? 2 yards out, noone to beat and he hit the crossbar!!!!!! When oh when will RvN return???????

Anyway, great run that United are on right now......22 out of a possible 24 in their last 8.......long may the run continue.....

Hope the Magpies pick themselves up and get a win tonight....they need a win......

Cheers!
Mike
