Re: World Club Football-The transfer season - 06-03-2004, 01:04 AM

Well Well Well............All of a Sudden there's quite a heated discussion going on here

Quote:
Arsenal? Perfect? No way. I believe that every single Arsenal player (specially Vieira, Henry and Campbell) is an absolute disgrace to the game by virtue of the team's behaviour and demeanour both on and off the pitch... as a case in point, the scenes at Old Trafford this season. What made it even worse was Wenger's sickening defence of his players and claiming that "it looked worse on TV than it actually was". Wow, headbutts and abusives get exaggerated by TV?? Let's not forget that Arsenal have by far the worst disciplinary record in the EPL (and in the whole of Europe for that matter)
Will not post my comments on this issue ...or this thread will get too hot to handle.

But give them a break guys, Going on a 27 game unbeaten run is no mean achievement, plus to come back from the brink of elimination (Courtesy Ashley Coles' 88 min header) in the UCL really says something about this team ...atleast to me I may add

As far as talent goes, Arsenal will never win the Champions League. I say this because they have neither the defence nor the balance in the team that is required to beat teams like REAL MADRID.....and of course, the refs for UCL matches are not the blind owls that referee the matches in England.....

LOL.. Arse'null and the CL .. Joke of the Millenium.. wud bet my money on Bayern (I dont like this team either ) than on Arse'
Guys.......I didn't say that Arsenal were going to win the CL .........I just said they might get pretty far.....and as far as I'm concerned they are not of it yet

PS: John apart from the 2 sites mentioned by me the only other Football related site is www.sigames.com homepage for Championship Manager 4

PS: No Prizes for guessing which team I support . BTW, any Arsenal Fans out here, they seem a rarity in India .........almost everyone I know are Man U supporters
When i said Arsenal Fan's were a rarity in India...I wasn't kidding

Re: World Club Football-The transfer season - 06-03-2004, 01:05 AM

awrite...getting back to a hotbutt topic...who actually is the best player in the epl tday?

id say henry....if for nothing else, atleast for playing all those matches n managing to stay uninjured whilst doing a one-man show for arsenal...not a mean task anyday!

then id say gareth southgate....no caps no calls no nothing....yet u can expect a rise to the occasion from this man come weekend match...the perfect professional

thirdbest would be frank lampard....all of russia's wealth couldnt get to stamford bridge a better player than one already there....

now ofcourse ive left out manutd players cuz then the above list would start as ranked 23 onwards...

to mvb--->arsenal may be a buncha yobs but not henry...case in point:-henry n keane were somehow the most well-behaved men on the pitch "that" day...n besides, henry is absolutely mildmannered if u put him next to louts like parlour and lauren...nonsense fringe football players..

cheers
John

Umm....Henry well-behaved??? Well, well, never thought I'd hear this....

Henry happens to be the only player I have ever seen getting an outright red for fighting with the ref.....normally it's a yellow...except that Henry made a 5-min long abusive tirade....Henry also happens to be the only player I have seen getting a 3-match ban for incidents that happened AFTER a match got over.....

Ruud Rules!!!! Ruud van Nistelrooy, tra la la la la....

Glory Glory ManU, ManU! .....in EPL

Mike

Yeah, and I guess that's the reason why Real Madrid are gunning for him too

As for Arsenal, I'd rather bet on my walking on the surface of Mars tomorrow....it's far more likely I guess!!!
Guys watch this space as we progress throught the UCL . I'm glad i'm not betting on anything

real have been gunning for rvn n henry n owen n my newspaperman n just abt everyone else we have playing soccer if rumours are to be believed....seriously...i think someone's on a payroll to just churn out gupshup abt madrid's recruitment season n watch the newspapers work emselves up into their customary frenzies....

the only thing ive heard with a reasonable amount of confirmation frm both sides of the deal seems to be the impending move of joaquin...although he's far frm a genuine galactico if u ask me....pls do correct me if im wrong...

I read this story a couple of weeks back. But at the moment I guess Henry will stay put at Highbury

Report from Sport.Independent.UK
"
The Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, accused Real Madrid of showing a lack of class in their pursuit of Thierry Henry on the night that the Frenchman passed the milestone of 100 Premiership goals.

The Real Madrid coach, Carlos Queiroz, has publicly identified Henry, ahead of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Francesco Totti, as his main summer transfer target. The former Manchester United assistant coach said: "If I had to give priorities, my preferences would be for Van Nistelrooy and Henry. The Frenchman is at his best now, both in terms of his abilities and his capacity both to take chances and to give passes."

Henry has assured Arsenal of his loyalty, while the club have insisted he is not for sale at any price. Wenger said angrily: "If I want a player from Real Madrid, I would call Real Madrid first, I wouldn't come out in the newspapers."

Re: World Club Football-The transfer season - 06-03-2004, 09:50 AM

ok at the outset let me tell u my fav team is REAL MADRID whom i think is the best team in the world bar none(now i know thts going ruffle some feathers then wait theres more ) personally i think EPL is a highly over-rated league jus bcoz of its money power and the sheer faith the fans show in their teams( ok prob thats the only good thing in epl) the epl game is too physical ( am with poltergeist)too patterned too system oriented that when suddenly when paced with sheer talent and class they seem bewildered..... i guess that is reflected in my choice of national teams where my team to cheer is and always will be BRAZIL.... last world cup is a class example the ran circles around much more "structured" teams ..... and a team i hate to watch none other than england whose primary and only idea is hoof the ball up field and hope that poor owen can run his legs off trying to get to it..... once a goal is scored (invariably following the method above) the retreat to fortress england with all their players including scholes and becks within the box with again only owen outside it and that too only just here to the game against argentina is a case to point.... and boy if these are the tactics the great sven is going to bring to chelsea god help them ( on a side note i personally believe cluadio has done as good a job as he can with players coming in every week with egos bigger than... it really would be sad to sack him after all the really good players like terry( the best among the lot, would i love to see him at real helping out a non-existant defence) lampard and duff saying that they want him nxt season too)
hmmmm running out of time will continue with this piece later on let the brickbats and boq's follow
ps. poltergeist about the (See his last pass to Luis Figo in Real- Celta Vigo) i believe that the pass was good but figo did simply great to control an overhead pass which was bouncing away from him evaded 2 defenders one who was blatantly hacking away at his legs and scored from a really tight angle..... i really believe that the commentators go ga-ga over becks a bit too much)
pps. a guess abt my fav game ............... cm4 rules
ppps. i belive cm4 has come up with an update including all chelsea transfers and better game play all together
cheerio
