Indian Sports: Can the media stop this unnecessary Hype. - 04-08-2005, 12:43 PM

Why does the media create so much Hype over Indian sports, more appropriately Cricket.

One of the recent issues highlighted by all the news papers:

"Is Ganguly willing to play under Dravid?"

What crap.

Steve waugh has played under Ricky ponting. Jayasurya under Atapattu. And more recently Lara under Chanderpaul.

Why does the media raise such unnecessary issues and create uneasyness in the dressing room.

Then comes the issue of making a mockery at the first sight of Talent.
Irfan pathan almost lost it all, caught up in this hype.
Now Veeru. With so many senior players around is it necessary for us to talk about Veeru being the future captain?

M S Dhoni, Sania Mirza ... and the list goes on.

Y cant the media stop this?

i am of the opinion that we need to professionalise the whole cricket scenario in india. its high time we junked this quasi-professional thing i.e we need to emulate australia

Cricket is India’s favorite pass time!!! So it is obvious that we like our players to be hyped a little. Indian sports figures are used to pressure now they cannot live without it. So are players in the USA. But we have a tendency to criticize players who are not in form, I am of the belief that if u r not in form u shud be out of the team no place in the team must be booked just bcaz u used to play well. Abt Dravid and Gangu issue I believe that Dravid led the team well in Sri Lanka and shud be given a chance. We a grooming a team for the next world cup only a judicious mix of the young and the experienced can survive. The spectacle again NZ tday is an example. We just cannot perform in pressure and from tdays example it seems that we cant perform without it either.

I am looking for the guy he's with!!!
