need some serious advice -- CAT or GMAT? - 08-06-2005, 09:43 PM

Hi Guys,

I am a software engineer with 3 yrs of exp. I had taken the cat 2 years ago but got a 70 percentile that time. Didnt prepare well. This time around i was preparing yet again but got an onsite assignment and am in US for around 3 months.

So what do u guys suggest:

should i try for CAT yet again given my work constrains. or else try for something easier (i am correct?) like GMAT. of course, i am planning only for ISB or AIM as US schools are too costly.

What really confuses me is:
1. Is an MBA from IIM still worth it for a guy with 3 yrs exp. (say u get a starting sal of 5-6 lacs after iim)
2. Is it worth taking the GMAT given that only ISB in india accepts GMAT scores.

I am not interested in part-time courses as my seniors who have done it from good schhols like FMS, IIFT etc also didnt get any placement service and no major upheaval in their present job.

Guys do give me pointers on this. I really want to do an MBA as i am preety bored with my software job which is getting monotonous.

Man can only think of problems that he can solve!
