Hey Neil,

Don't be scared, there is absolutely no problem. In places where you qualify (where there is no "Atleast 50% in graduation" clause), you will face no problem since only the consolidated marksheet and the final degree are asked for. Nobody is going to ask you yearly marksheets. Only the final year students are asked to produce their yearly marksheets and even then their admission is provisional. To the best of my knowledge, you are perfectly eligible for admission in IMI and the other B-Schools. So cheer up and go bell that CAT.

hi guys,

sorry that i couldnt come online was out with jaundice

so couldnt even bell the cat last time and completed my degree a year later even worse scenario .

This year iam takin up masters programme and will be simultaneously trying for mba

lets see what happens .seems as though the odds are stacked against even more than before.

with a 65 odd percentage and no special extracuricullar cert's i guess it would be diffcult but hell let it be diffcult if it isnt it wont be interesting.!

so anybody from this thread make it into any bschool

any guy like me with pathetic scores in graduation and no extra curri certi's make up anywhere if so certainly do let us know.

would be of great help! especially to me and very few of my kind

Do well in CAT.......grad scores do have a litlle weightage...but that should not deter you.

well well,last year when i came across this thread,wat did i find..I AM NOT ALONE!!
felt lil good and also inspired,the words of PG(in this very thread)always feels good when u find ppl who r facing the same/have faced the problem.
and yes i did make it to few b-schools.obviously i missed out on iim's(they dint even call me for gd/pi

)but am joining MDI now.
just in case u ppl are wondering wats my profile?here it is:
10th-86%
12th-81%
engg.-58%

and mind it i am dabba again in wat they taught me in engg. coll.

completed my engg. last year itself,dropped a year for cat,no extra currics in my coll.neither did the college take any initiative and nor was i intersted then to start it on my own.just had a few certi's from school.those too nothing gr8 to boast about.

well.i wont say that "if i cud then u too can"coz frankly i havent done anything gr8.and believe me when i tell u that there thousands like us and most of them do make to gd/pi rounds of b-school.from there onwards,its how u handle the pressure or justify ur low marks(which beleive me are never a criterion for selction.if at all,then the minimal weightage.after all why the hell will they want to miss out on a good prospective manager or leader!!!)

so just have belief in urself!!rest,success cant be defined by getting into a b-school.it is a relative term.and there obviously are "more things in heaven and earth than can be dreamt in our philosophy"(-hamlet)

hey!

for the IIMs atleast acads are VERY important! only in exceptional cases (like a national level player or somebody having his own startup...etc etc) will people with bad acads get through.

BUT you can't go back and change your acads or other historic events

. what you CAN do is study very hard for CAT , get a great percentile and try to get into a good bschool

btw, this is comin from an IIM reject but an MDI convert!
