hello friends.. can any one furnish me the city wise break up of students who took CAT2004 and the previous 1-2 year(s) CAT entrance(s)...

i need ths for a project.. even a link to another thread where the details are furnished will be of gr8 help..

I dont have a complete break-up but I do know that of the 160000 odd people who applied for CAT This year, about 16300 were from Bangalore, which was the highest for any city.

Hey Monkee

I think u have got ur stats wrong buddy cos i think apni rajdhaani DELHI throws the most applicants. I heard a figure way above 16300. Somethin close to 50K gave it wid delhi as examination centre. One of them was me also.
N mahesh i think a poll would be serve ur purpose better. U cud project the data collected from here.

The one who comes second is the first loser.

Seems like some consultancy firm is on to CAT analysis....
and with talks of outsourcing CAT combined.... yummm... this becomes real interesting....

I think this has to be a wrong fact.
Just imagine, more than one third people coming from one state (infact one city) and the rest from rest of India?
Seems absurd.

hey its not because all these people belong to delhi, its just that they give delhi as their test centre. prolly lots of people from up and haryana! jo bole so nihal!!

Hey buddy,


You can do one thing...
Go thru all thethreads relating CAT 2005 prep from so n so city and calculate the number of user frequenting that thread.........

Now whne u will be having the numbers with u.....for some of the cities, then u can sample it in two steps.
First assumption can be the new joinees from now on till november.

Second can be the sampling of the PG members to whole population, i mean 1.6 lakh giving cat.....

U may get a very rough figure, that too of few of the cities for which the threads r thr, like baroda, ahmedabad, chennai, chandigarh,bangalore, cochin, dehi,pune, etc etc...

That seems to be the only possibility from PG , the website and not 'the guy'

thanx guys.. for ur valuable responses.. well.. out of the 35K students who took CET n Maharashtra... arnd 15000 were frm Mumbai... so even if i presume the same number took CAT... i think.. we can be sure... the metros like bom/del/kolkata/chennai/bangalore will hv a share of 12 each (on an avg).. and the remaining amongst the other cities...

i jus tried my luck.. if i can get some real figures.. coz pagalguy (yeah.. the site !!) has never ever dissapointed me.. (even now.. thanx to PG)...

neways.. i think.. a poll will be helpful too..
