don't have Muneer with me so can't say much abt it.
what i wud suggest is that you check out both the books and decide which one suits your needs better.
hope this helps..

friends ,
we are diverting from the purpose of the thread.
Let us only discuss the things which are meant to be discussed.
If we chalk the schedule ,and stick to it ,it will be helpful to us all .
So lets talk about time distance, simple interest ,compund interest and the topics we decided to prepare this week.

although it's a matter of personal choice, but i wud rather suggest u ppl not to get into all this stuff, unless u r way below average in calculations and way above average at remembering stuff.just keep things simple and understand the basics, brain works better that way!

Why would you suggest that ... am pretty ok with mathematics. But I think that calculation speed mst be very high to get good scores. Which i do not have.

I mean what is ur idea .. for speed calculation and how should one go for it ???

Pathetic at DI - 22-04-2005, 11:49 AM

Hey guys, its really inspiring to see that you all have started prep in full swing.I'm finding it so difficult to even open my DI books....and thats the area I really need to work on.I'm just hoping that I can actually improve in the next 6 months.Believe me,my calculation speeds suck, even a 12 * 9 makes me pause and when it comes to the huge numbers, I totally panic.I've written CAT 2004(DI-32.xx,overall -98.71) but I consistently ignored this area and I still have no clue how to approximate and stuff. This time round,I will join a coaching class but all the same,I'd really appreciate tips for a weekly plan to improve my DI.

Thanks

did u look at that link in the post previous to mine...the no. of special cases given there.eg.multiplying a number by xx.7...by xx.35...i mean wot chance do u hav of perfectly remembering all such cases?imagine getting confused abt the tricks given for a specefic case while doing some calculations in the exam and applying the tricks wrongly.thats why i suggest, just calculate as u normally do.remembering all the tables and reciprocal stuff is ok,but remembering too many special cases will add to ur confusion.to increase ur speed,i wud rather suggest that u calculate as u normally do and practice a lot to increase ur speed.
but with all said and done, its all a matter of personal choice.but this is wot i strongly feel.

try doing a few DI questions everyday without putting any time constraints on urself and dont panic(i know its easier said than done).once u get a hang of it,u'll automatically start solving quickly.with practice,im sure u'll gradually improve.98.xx with 32.xx in DI means that ur doing very well in the other 2 sections!
