Could any one with single call managed to get final call??

hi!!

I had 99.23%tile. I had got a single call from IIMC PGDM...

Finally could not convert it inspite of a good gd and pi and good profile.(btech cg: 8.94 and 90% 12th)

In many posts, when the IIM calls were being sent out. There were many guys here who had a single call from IIM . I just want to know that are there any people who had single calls and have managed to get final calls from IIMs. ( Offcourse there would be many peepz like this.) ..

Please post with the cat score/profile and the single call..

Hi Vipul,

I had only a call from IIM K and managed to convert the same.

CAT 97.85% with QA 94.08 VA 97.89 DI 85.75

Xth 88%
XIIth 88.8%
BE(Mech) 2002 : 64.3%
Work Ex: 2years + as a sales engineer with Henkel

Just as in Pete's case, there seem to be some ppl who have converted their single calls due to workex(not discounting other factors)
But, if that be the case, then why did they call freshers like us when they new about our workex in the initial cat form...
Incidentally, i had 2 calls: I & L
CAT % 98.88, 71% in Math, 91 % XII, 90 % X
and other extra curriculars.
The L gd was good and pi was gr8 . result: not converted(believe it was the percentile)
Indore pi was hopeless, so the only chance i had is gone.

Hey... Know of sum1 that mite help this thread. My Batchmate Tanny had a single IIM call and that too the big B. He had above average acads, 8.7ish CPI and above 85% in Xth and XIIth. After a decent GD and PI he has been waitlisted 35 in IIMB. Btw, his CAT % was 99.01

Another guy from my college who had a single IIMB call with 98.94 percentile and gr8 academics and extra-curriculars (CPI 9.6, Xth = 93, XII = 95) didn't convert it... Dont know how he fared in GD/PI. Same with one of my batchmates with a lone C call at 99.23 (decent academics with no of centums in maths thruout his career!!!) But he had a very bad interview...

One more guy with 2 calls (IIMI and IIMK) has converted IIMK with average academics and decent GD/PI

So its not that they'r biased or anything. Its just that u've to perform well in the GD/PI process... Probably somewhat better than the people with multiple calls coz u'd be loosing sum points in the CAT score department... Lot of speculations have already been made on the weightage assigned to the CAT score, so its a very debatable field... But I'm quite sure that the PG veterans can quite a dozen more examples of people converting their only calls. Infact I remember meeting an IITD-IIMC passout, working in AT Kearney whose only call was IIMC.

I'd say don't worry about L too much. Just spoke to someone who's been training people for CAT for last 7 years. He says IIML has given out only 400 calls this year. So they will HAVE TO come out with another waitlist cos most of those who converted L have also converted one of ABC.

I am waitlist rank 2 in IIMB(I had only a single call)

My profile is as follows:

CAT:99.10 %tile

Std X: 96.2 %(I.C.S.E)

Std XII: 95.6 %(C.B.S.E)

Engg: 82.3 %

Extracurricular record:Very good in school and college

GD: It was a fishmarket but I raised relevant points(All the rest in my group were work-ex ppl and were very aggressive)

Interview:Great,I thought that the interviewers were really impressed.

Hoping to make it to the hallowed portals of IIMB

i know MrAnderson coverted his single A call!!..A friend of mine, a fellow BITSian converted her single B call with 99.1..but she was an adiya birla scholar n stuff so i guess no surprises there..
