well, even a guy wid CG 7.2 and a work-ex of 1 yr made it to IIMA this yr...and several other guys wid higher satti and lower atthi...whereas among the freshers,8.45 was the lowest CG considered..all others above 8.5!even the 100 percentile guy wid a CG of 8.4 something hasnt been taken...now wot do u say?

look, for a fresher it is only acads that u look to, unless offcourse u have very extraordinary extracurrics. but for a workex guy, one another dimension opens during the i/v. I dont know for this yr, but I do remember that a large number of Freshers do made it from IITB in 2001 & 2002(yr of my passing out). I didnt gave CAT during that yr bcoz i was planning to take up Civil Services as my career at that time. And i do feel that final yr is the best/easiest time to crack CAT, it becomes all the more difficult in a job.
but ya, i m surprised that a guy with CG of 8.4 and 100 percentile been rejected .

After all the speculation this thread saw on the way calls are given, now that results are out, this is my take on what finally happened this year.

A: Nothings changed from last year. Not too much emphasis on %ile. PI is make or break. Acads & profile are a huge plus. The batch breakup wouldnt be too different I guess

B: Much lesser emphasis on %ile when compared to last year. Guys with high %iles & average interviews made it n so did the people with (supposedly) low %iles & good Pi's. Also, this batch seems to be more work-ex friendly than last year.

C: Of A,B,C; the IIM which seems to have given the highest emphasis on %ile. Nothing seems to have changed here too.

L: %ile all over again. Also, like B, they seem to have favoured work-ex slightly

K: Reduced weightage on %ile. Pi has definitely mattered.

I: We'l see after results come.

K has given lots of weightage to work-ex. Its a workex heavy batch!

I second monkee on about both C and L.I think they have been hugely percentile biased and me with a 99.27%ile having C,L,I calls have been totally disappointed to c this as they were the big institutes i was thinking of going to.
Now, hoping that I wudn't do the same with me.............
