CAT 2005@Chandigarh -
03-03-2005, 10:17 PM
Hi Friends,
I have been looking out here for various institutes in the city for CAT prepration,Like PT,Omega,CL,BE,etc. There is a diffrent image with people in PEC and other collages. This Year PT has Bagged excellent resultsin all the major exams and there conversion rate is also very high.Looking at the faculty also Mr.Singla used to be the famous one,but nower days he is also busy with outdoor activities.BE isone man show,Mr.Madan is the key ,but is busy with the same old practices.I am strange to know that some famous institutes like IMS and CL are also struglling for some good faculty members.
If anybody of You in chandigarh and can guide me about the best way to prepare for CAT,so please do.

Hey
Well bout CL one thing is that they will prepare well u for Quant only as Anant is there.BE its again old funda make u change batches.
One advice if ur looking seriously to bell CAT go to Delhi as here each centre is good in only one thing or other but is not a complete package.OR try do one thing coaching for diff sections from diff place if they agree.

go for omega -
04-03-2005, 11:22 AM
hi all,
first of all dont send wrong rumours sunil singla is not involved in any outdoor activities he is too much into teaching.then looking at results omega is the only institue consistent in results( every yr cat topper), secondly this year fourteen students bagging iim calls.
When we compare results with other institutes all institutes claim students to be there own if they join test series, some go to extenct of namin a student there own if he or she gives there free mock. And later they add students if they join Gd Pi so be catious of results also there are few genuine results coming from class room training. All of you might have seen free GD PI adds if greater then this percentile think over why wld an inst give it free they trade it for thier name so think wisely before joining.

Regarding most important parameter in CAT comes is MOTIVATION and that is an abundance in PT. Bulls I is ok and its eng teachers are more of hindi. They belive in theory X ie students will not study so give them home wrk , give them punishments....... theory of stick.
But PT has excellent staff , even if you will not clear CAT but you will feel motivated and think right. The purpose to use think right is that every student as his kind of right insitute where he will blossom and can rise. this is all told at PT.

Guys,
What abt Time CHD. It's been started a little while ago and heard it's good.
I guess the competition will be between CL and Bulls Eye mainly.

Go for Omega -
07-03-2005, 05:54 PM
If you are aspiring for IIMs, don't look anywhere else. OMEGA is just the right place for you.
I feel, 80% is your contribution and only 20% is Coaching Institute's contribution.
But your 80% can be a waste if you don't utilise the 20% optimally.
Regarding the course content and teaching methods, there is not much to choose among various institutes. The only factor that separates Omega from other institutes, is the quality of coaching.
Mr Singla has a lot of experience under his belt combined with his unique way of teaching.
Well that all is what i feel. I suggest you to get in touch with him. Attend few classes there. and then make a decision.
I m telling all this based on my personal experience.
All the best for CAT-2005

Omega -
07-03-2005, 06:04 PM
The only disadvantage Omega has with respect to TIME, IMS and CL, is the no of students who take its MOCK CATs. OMega has some 200+ students, so you compete with only 200 students, That is the only drawback i see in Omega
But you can always take other institute's test series. That is not a problem at all. Omega's main objective is to get you to the premiere institutes.
Morever I've heard that they are planning to tie up with other similar institutes in other cities of India to increase the no of their MOCK CAT Test takers.

my recommendaton- PT -
14-03-2005, 10:11 AM
I think PT Chandigarh has very strong advantage in terms of their faculty...they charge u up with the right attitude for CAT...which is most important. I did my entire preparation from them and still keep going back for any career related decisions...Incase ur looking for coaching institutes...I will recommend u judge them by the following parameters...1. Personal counselling by the faculty (coz CAT is not a herd-exam, it has to prepare u personally) 2. attitude with which they deliver (do they motivate u? put confidence in u? boost ur positive attitude? or simply do quants and verbal)...I found both of these at PT and hence I'll recommend that...

Hi all,
I m PEC(Electronics), 2004 paas out, presently in kolkata.
Bulls eye is unarguably the best.
U got to join bulleye.
From my personal first hand exp., they r as helpful as ne1 can be.
CL sucks buddies. i had a very very bad exp wid CL here in kolkata.
They go hard and fast on their rules, no flexibility.
BE is ofcourse the best.
I m still getting help frm mr. madaan and all in terms of current affairs and GK books which i have got this year also frm BE, widout payng nethng.
Let me tell one thing 2 all the buddies here,
It is only the fear of being embarassed in front of othr classmates tht makes u do the homewrk.(read "the monk who sold his ferari" by R. sharma)
The rationale is not to make BE a school, but t he purpose is to make u study the areas in which u r weak.
I was weak in chemistry for engg. entrance and then weak in verbal for CAT. Even today i m weak in chem and verbal. bcoz i never dd the Homework!!!! :-)
Newaz the final decision is up to u!!
