say ard 100-120. So, the chances of conversion is above 50% and that increases much more if your gd/pi is good ..... so, lets keep our fingers crossed....

awesome news yaar.. seats are around 60.. last year 58 are studyin... and that could be a possible reason for chill interview on 14th march for everyone... and i believe to have 55-60 students in pgdcm... they wld need to give atleast 100 calls only for pgdcm.. and then few wld be there who wld get both calls and i bet none wld want pgdcm if he gets pgdm.. so things are not lookin bad here.. after havin such a kool affair at iim-c where i think nothin happened by which i impressed them except few quants question i am really worried.. but keepin my fingers crossed to convert atleast pgdcm if not both...

GD was on 'An activist Supreme Court is -ve for Democracy'... 3 mins to think, 15 mins to discuss, 1 min to conclude (for each candidate)... healthy discussion, wid gud participation frm almost all quarters... later, we were called out in random order to conclude (I believe, we were called in increasing order of quality of contribution)

PI revolved around the 'general' ques, my FYP, hobbies etc. Only part tht was different/new was - Wot is 1G/2G/3G in mobile commn parlance? Do u agree mobiles phones r replacing computers? How soon will mobiles completely replace computers (specific time-frame)? Wot will be the scene in computer hardware industry then?

It lasted arnd 18-20 mins

(this guy was trying to psyche people out, tried it with me for a bit but then gave up)

4. what is the difference between fdi and fii?
1: explain in detail.
4: what's the difference between revenue deficit and fiscal deficit
1: (he wanted to hear "i don't know" so desperaately from my mouth, so i gave it to him)

I dont think the order of conclusion was related to the quality of contribution. moreover in our batch , they forgot to ask one of the guys to conclude and asked us to go out. We then reminded them that u have forgotten one person and then they asked him to conclude.
so the conclusion definitely doesn't carry any weightage in GD marks.

i had my gd-pi on 15th in IIMB... gd was cool topic being " Where is knowledge lost in all these information" It lasted for about 10-15 mins.It was a cool one and everybody got to speak.
PI was also too cool..I dunno wat to makeout of it..

G1: can we see ur file?
me: yeah! sure.gave them my file.. n all the while he was into the file till the last moment
G2 : so watsthe case of terrorism in india?wats the future of terrorists????

hi guys,
my gd/pi was on 14th march at mumbai.
gd topic:Tourism is beneficial for India?

i started the discussion with tourism being in the service sector and that this sector is contributing the largest to the gdp growth at present as opposed to the agricultural sector which supports half of india's population(Why did i say this!!!!! )
PLUS the revenue generation and its utilisation part for the betterment of the poor ppl.

Think i started off at a tangent---almost everyone b4 me was asked the basic hr stuff in the pi, but as soon as i entered ,the panel started giving me indications that i had made an assumption in the gd directly, which even the others followed and i was responsible for screwing up the gd.
They infact asked me "did u really discuss the topic"---i dont know how i was digresing from the topic--i still think i talked sense when i started the gd(except for including the agricultural part), even if i may have started with an assumption.
Also, they said that i talked for 2 and half minutes at the start of the gd and was speaking for 35 % of the time and hence the overall gd wud then depend on my contribution.
Then one of the panelists was kind of teasing me like "u were the leader, na!"
he told me that a leader shud promote others to speak as well(shit! never followed that part in the gd)
anyways, guys pl help ----does this mean the end of hopes for calcutta??
even for pgdcm
btw i have 99.45%
any feedback pl. guys and wud like to have a frank one at that.

Hi guys,

Just came to my senses after my interviews .

I thought i would share my experience of IIMC and look for some expert advise on my chances.

My Acads are decent, Am an Engg Too.

Percentile: 99.55

QA: 96.6
DI : 97.2
VA: 99.2

Gd: Contributed some good points during the discussion. Was definately one of the better guys in the GD.
Messed up completely in the Summarization part, was first to be asked to do it, just could not get the act together.


PI: I don't think i could make much of a distinction.

Mentioned : Junior National Basketball Player, Executive body of College Dramatics Club.
And some Research Paper i had published.

They asked me the typical questions, i fear that i was not very articulate in answering them. They did not seem convinced at all!

My querie is that how far can a Profile like mine cover up for a Lacklusture PI and my blundering in the Summarization.
