Fella'
Been a longtime since I posted......was havin a look thru all threads, found very few peep'

frm Commerce/Arts. There ws jus one BCA guy....frm Pg.....think he defied odds and got

himself into IIMA and there was one more who waited for 4 yrs!!! (latter ws an Enineer)
Well, any suggestions??? frm person of any background....wo r weak in Quant/DI???? coz

all tat stuff like Time management...bla bla......and "CAT paper is jus some kinda Attitude

paper"......doesn't apply a bit!
So wat does one do if he sux, in two most important sections???
Does one jus leggo off CAT??
Comments invited frm all Pgites......especially.....IIM alumni!

I jus wanna knw.......is it really feasible for one to start at tis stage??
r tere like minded persons like myself??
Well, I dont think tere r any on Pg, r they?????

PS: Keerti Pendyal is a Comm grad! But there r exceptions!

Start with Mba study - 10-02-2005, 02:47 PM

Hey mate honestly speakin i dont really have faith in these institutes but on the other hand i have never joined one so i could be wrong.I started with Basics.I have had all the material from IMS CAREER LAUNCHER AND CARRER FORUM.i bought these off the street from about Rs 300 -700 and i also got RS-aggarwal for math.Start with RSAggarwal first as it is the Easiest and will help u build confidence. Then start with the Career forum notes then C/L and tehn IMS starting from the easiest to the hardest. This will help you build confidence and clear your elementary problems. If u dont have all these materials even the its okie buit do start with RS aggarwal. If Vocab is a problem then make placards they really help.I got screwd ui got really demotivated after my cat.
Hey also have u ever applied for Tiss

hey folks

just chill yaar...engineers dont have ne advantage when it come to quants....
you have to focus on putting your best efforts and rest to .......god.

joining a coaching class depends on what kind of learning u prefer. If u are a self-motivated individual and have an ability to lay a system and follow it meticulously then u might not even need a coaching class.

my 2 cents...

thanks

Well I'm a commerce grad and while I don't exactly shine in Quant or DI, I generally do reasonably well, subject to the possibility of choking at the actual exam. Managed an 88.9 in Quant at CAT, and I guess I could've done worse. I have a terrible work ethic, and am positively allergic to hard work, so I really didn't practice much at all, which sort of leaves me rueing missed opportunities all too often. So the following is mostly a list of what I did NOT do, but you should:

Anyway, the bottomline is - work hard. As Comm. Grads we haven't touched Maths since 12th (some of us since 10th) Moreover, three years of using calculators means we're so used to pushing buttons for the simplest calculations that the brain refuses to do mental calculations. The thing to do is to break that habit. Try to calculate by hand even when you're totalling Balance Sheets. Learn from the fundamentals up. Shortcuts will only help you so much if you don't know the foundation on which they rest.

Secondly, if your Quant is not natively good, concentrate on accuracy. Negative marking kills, so stick to answering as many correctly as you can. After all, Quant cut-offs tend to be on the lower side.
All the best...we comm grads really need to make our presence felt a bit more.

Nights can be empty, nights can be cold
So you were looking for someone to hold
That's only natural
But why did it have to be me?

Guys Me also hv a phbia of maths. Worked like an ass on math but still my nt score this year in maths was 1. Did 8qs outta which 3 were rite shud hv got 2 to 3 more here and among the rest of the paper arnd 5 to 7. The real point with me is to kewep my coooooooool which I lost big time this year whilke givin da paper. My theory is tht in the CAT they hv arnd 15 to 20 mrks (MAX) which any1 can get be it even an arts or a comm student.

I don't hv any calls frm major instis to which I applied baring ICFAI which cals almost evry1 and I got Gurgaon which I am nt joinin. I wud nt join HYD also. I missed XLRI by just 6 marks in QA and XIMB by 4 to 5 marks.

Will definitely try harder this year and no doubts will suceed.

JUST KEEP THE FAITH.

P.S. Any1 frm Noida or East delhi interested in grp study or sharing plz lemme know.

So till next time Adios

guys my quant and di sux too but I dunno if I am eligible to post on this thread bcos i am an engg. student....

Poof....there goes the belief that engineers r quant studs...I am the exact opposite..Had 99.98 for verbal and 79 for quant ...

The stuff for CAT is only usual school stuff...so I dont think anyone has a great advantage over anyone else...
Yes...mebbe a slight advantage but nothing u guys cant handle...
Good luck n count me in too in the "My quant and Di sux" group!

I'm an idealist. I don't know where I'm going but I'm on the way.
