factually speaking, none of the cat questions need any sort of mental calculation, that too with big numbers. the questions are all conceptual and if you can understand the concept u can crack it. i am a doctor and managed a measly 70%ile the last time but a 97.8 tis time so its not so bad. the key is to keep it simple, attempt about 20 and get over 15 correct (this of course may vary with the difficulty level of the section). to use a cliche, there is no substitute for hard work!

hey guys,

i have done my BMS (BACHELORS IN MANAGEMENT STUDIES ) from sies nerul mumbai univ.

my math is not that gr8 and i knew abt it before i took cat 04 itself.but the surprise of surprises is that my di which is pretty good generally ditched me completely on that day.i screwed up the whole paper bcoz there were changes in format and stuff.the exam was on sunday and i had taken a paper on saturday where i scored 54 with a break up of 22 eng 18 di and 14 math.(cat 04 feb)

but lost my confidence during the test .this is what always happens to me.

BTW have tried ims (of which i was a student an the class was not of much help at all) , cl material.

i just happened to go through the time notes of one of my friends and they r gud.

so,for basics i guess use time material.also if u have last years ims simcats u could use them later .

will discuss abt my TT in the next thread.

regards,

gauri

Hey back to studyin - 06-07-2005, 11:29 AM

hey hi guys i am posting here after a long time and all.Firsly i think it is a great idea to start this thread.Secondly now that i have not made it to tiss i have done some thinking and i have chalked out a plan of action.
Firstly the conceputal part of Cat is one which screws up us the most,i am not the brightest one around but now i have realised one thing and that is the old saying Play ur strengths is the best way to go bout it.
I scored 95% in Gk and 93 % in Vocab in Xat and 99.99% in Vocab in Cat but my quant marks were .....u know what. I am of the opinion that rather than running around Cat whose DI i can never crack i am going to concentrate on Xat ,Fms.Cet .Snap etc etc as while studyin fer Cat one concentrates on Di and other stuff and the quant or Vocab part gets ignored. So i think start with the basics in Math and study really hard for Gk and English and then try attempting a few questions in the Quant for Xat , that ways if not Xlri Sibm atleat would be in reach. Also last year after giving Cat i came out feelin so down that it affected all my other exams.I still dont know whether i am right in thinking like this or not but why dont u guys gimme ur opinion as we all are in the same boat .
