Guyz, the following issues are worth consideration:

1) The Economic Times (todays edition) clearly mentiones the year of increase as 05-06... So its relevant to guyz who appeared in CAT 2004.
2) Leaving the Phd programmes aside, the topic of interest is the increase of 80 seats at IIM-B and 20 seats at IIM-K...(A total of 100 seats).
3) It is however not known if IIMs would call in more people for GD/PI or select the excess candidates from the existing lot of guyz shortlisted for GD/PI. The latter is however unethical and wrong.
4) It is best in the interest of students that more students be called for GD/PI as a proportion of the new number of total seats.

Plz let me have your views.

Increase in IIM seats - 07-02-2005, 09:38 PM

with IIMs increasing thier seats does anyone think that the chances of people who've got only IIFT calls have just improved.......

comments and criticisms are welcome

We all here at IIMK knew that seats are being increased to 180. I guess the admissions committee knew as well, and therefore gave proportionate number of calls. So i dont think the number of calls will increase. The news release is just a public notice of what was probably communicated internally much earlier.

Hi Guys,

Just to add on to what Varun wrote, the seats at IIM Kozhikode PGDM are going up to 180 this year (thats an increase of 60 not 20) ..this had been communicated earlier as well, just that the papers have caught up now!.

There is no question of additional calls going out, I think the admissions committee knew about this long back along with all of us here, so they surely would have sent out calls accordingly.

That having been said, its a good step seeing the huge increases in number of ppl giving cat every year. I think you can all expect the number of seats go up progressively year after year from now, albiet in small amounts.

Also, with the brand new, state of the art infrastructure here at IIM Kozhikode (spread over a huge campus perched on top of 2 hills!), its only a matter of a few years before we touch 240+ seats in each year like IIMA and IIMB.

Hope that helped clear things..

cheers,
NFS
