Rahul | Hey dude,
I have the same centre for my SIMCATS....Its quite straight forward......When u come from RTO side, finally u reach a junction from where you take a left turn to go towards ABC, right ?? Once on that road ( which is a one-way ), just take the right turn before the ABC turn...and thats it..theres ur college..its a big buidling and u wont miss it......Its not at all inaccessible..so dont worry at all.....

Hi fellow members, I am presently working in Pune in a Software MNC for the last few months. I appeared for CAT 04 and couldn't perform well. I got almost the same percentile as xpected. That was largely 'cause I had to appear for my B.E. exams(PRACTS) at tht t6ime so messed up CAT gloriously . I had a feeling tht CAT was out of my reach as my acads are just alrite, nthing xceptional.I did my engg from a descent college in Pune, and somethin tells me tht even if i get a call someday froms any IIMS ,my acads and especially my not so brilliant overall persona won't xctly be a boon in PIs. Besides,I hve jst drawn few stats to convince myself tht CAT is not xctly thev best option for freshers with 1-2 yrs work ex financially and work-ex wise cause : 1) it takes 2 yrs of ur life rite at d beginning of ur career. 2) costs around 4 lac (MBA cost) plus 4-5 lac(loss of 2 yrs salary) plus two yrs of vital learning during work. Wht do u people say ? my CAT related C.V. : company : Kanbay Software. Work ex: abt 6 mnths. CAT 04 : %tile : 93 ( about 88% in all three sections)
coaching: C.F. (got around 88% in mock cats)
Didnt solve any material or anything besides mock cats.
For cat, studied in last week only from wednesday to
saturday( solved 3 mocks a day b4 CAT,got same score in cat .
CAT 05 : Haven't started preparation as yet. I am not having uch work in office but
don't feel lik studing. Convincing myslf to study atleast a week b4 CAT
this time.
Anyone going thru such confused state of affairs :
Anyone. | | | | | | | |

hello dude, THIS is Saurav here, didnt get the time to participate in discussion, well i saw lot many mails regarding CL/time/ims......BUT ,ACCORDING TO ME - actually CAT depends on ur capability only, no body in this world can teach u all the basics wat u ll face in CAT, just analyse last yr paper n u ll find that in quant u need not to know more than 15 formulae, in di no calculation n no xtra advantage to people having strong vocab.CAT is all mind game, even with fresh mind with out much prep u can crack it. u need to have tough mind which can handle pressure. well buddy it doesnt matter how is ur acad, bottom line is that u need to sell ur candidature, if acad all dat imp then there must nt b any gd/pi . acads r imp but that much, work ex of 2 yrs is ideal for CAT, u can easily get into I- banking n all coz for them u r fresh, for more than 3 it will b tough job. well now buddies chill urself, drink smoke, watch movies do the blast ultimately u need to blast CAT. enjoy urself dont take tension, m just leaving my study on 13th nov, complete one week rest, but this doesnt mean that i ll slog mself with books n all till 13th, m enjoyin watching movies, enjoing my parties n all, xpect same frm u all. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF U. BLAST saurav remember-CAT the most craziest thing in our life, we need to get this tiger out of CAT, n need to treat cat as a cat only.

HI,
Back again after some time. Looks like everyone`s busy with CAT. Much the same with me too, and with just a fortnight to go I am all into studies, taking no chances.
SAURAV: I do not agree with ur post. Per me, CAT requires focus, good prep and the attitude to "run the proverbial extra mile". Classes (IMS, CL, CF, ...) give u the bandwidth to see as many different arenas as possible, besides some amount of rigorous learning and discipline. According to me out of the selected candidates to any B-school, a very very large %age are groomed. In fact I have enrolled myself for GD/PI grooming with Prof. Kamat, who is a veteran in this field....cos I do not want to take any chances or play around with my life....I see this stage as the MOST IMPORTANT and I do not want to operate out of a Carefree attitude- that will make me regret later.
Classes or no classes--that will always be debatable and one can argue till the end of life, but the reality remains--even Geniuses (Daiamonds) do need polishing and hence better to get oneself polished than remain in an illusory world--that ur shine is eternal.
Yes, CAT is a MIND GAME--but only for the prepared mind. If it were not so we would have had instances of flukes getting in with no or little prep and that I think is not the case. Ofcourse, all ultimately boils down to ones Capability...but how do u acquire/refine skills or competenices?????? Not by doing nothing or as u suggested (Chill, drink, smoke, watch movies ).....Hope that was in good humour only.
Acads are indeed important, I am not saying that they are the only thing that matters. Going by studs who finally make it, they have a combination of good acads. extra/co-curriculars, well rounded personalities (commn & interpersonal skills as seen in GD) and ofcourse a good CAT score.
I penned down this reply as I wanted to make future aspirants aware that in my view and I think most will agree - U DO NEED TO GET GEARED FOR CAT.
HEY ALL: HAPPY DEEPAVALI AND ALL THE BEST FOR CAT!!!!!!!!!!

I have read all mails on this forum. Except in some of the latest mails, somehow I tend to get a feeling that CL and TIME have being promoted on this Forum. The really big ones in Pune are CF which is the largest and IMS which is the second largest, but no one seems to be discussing them, inspite of having certain strnths which others do not have in Pune. Also too much flattry of CL faculty Chandra is happening. I plan to take CAT06, so if in Mumbai I will take up IMS as it is their HQ. If in Pune or Bangalore at that time, I will go in for career forum- Pune being HQ and therefore having maximum support and in Bangalore being largest. Teching in bangalore is supposed to be best at CF. So my decision will be based on which city I will be posted in Dec/ Jan. CL is too expensive anywhere and not value for money. | | | | | | | |

hey suzie,
All U see about Mr. Chandra r compliments and not flattery....He is a really very nice mentor and a very intelligent person. And he doesnt boast about it.Please dont criticze someone if u dont know him...Its ur decision to join whatever coaching u may want, but this is a public thread and everybody writes what he feels...Nobody here gets any commision for praising any tutorial....keep this in mind | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
