As per my observation...I have seen many ppl tellng that Wordlist is not required..but what I felt aftr seeing the cat n other examination papers is that we need to know these words..though readin a lot mite help but considering the busy schedules of many ppl it might jus not be possible to read all the articles everyday ...also it light so happen that the articles we might read might not have many new words or may havet he words which we already know..so what I wud suggest is that start going thru barrons..atleast make urself familiar with the words so that the next time u see that word u wil be able to recollect it...
these were my 2 cents..even I have to implement it...I did not do wordlist bcoz many said its not required...but then saw the consequence during the exams..staright forward questions cud not attempt..

the study material wud take care of vocab, RC etc.

saw this thread 4 first time... - 30-03-2005, 03:21 PM

Hi guys,

I too had given CAT last year...98.83 with no iim calls.... Takin CAT this time.. Find many guys from bangalore..

I think 3-4 months of dedicated prep is enough for gettin a gud %ile...though i reckon the classes conducted by the coachin institutes are very cosmetic in nature, takin the test series from one or two coachin institutes helps...

ATb for all...

Coaching????? - 30-03-2005, 04:05 PM

Hi! ppl,

Just as i go through these forums i find a lot of different opinions (well that's always expected!!!!)...like few of them say coaching is a must for CAT and while there are few who say u can hit CAT even without that....

So, would like to ask the members over here....Is coaching that necessary???? with 8 months to go can i prepare by my self for CAT with just attending the mocks from 2 institutes as said or would it really benefit me attending the classes.....

regards,

SuNiL

Hi okkadu,
Who is that okkadu?you or maheshbabu ....just kidding

Just coming to your question, What do u mean by coaching ? Going daily to classes of 1 or 2 hrs duration? If that is the case , i strongly feel that is quite useless if ur basics r strong...
But if ur basics r weak, then better join a coaching centre. U know what i mean by basics!!!!
All the math stuff of 8th, 9th and10th.
But, regular practice is necessary. For that , u can get some good material(s) ....Any material will do (IMS,TIME or CL)
And i strongly suggest write TIME mocks and one btw CL and IMS mocks....Write only 2 test series and not more than that....If u write more mocks, u will get fatigue...
Also, try to be in top-200 atleast in every mock and cross all cutoffs.
And by the end of the day, keep ur cool on the D-day .....then u can crack it...
If any other queries , u can ask me freely....
bye MAHESHBABU
