My cuzsis was a student. Frankly she would not have got admission in any good b-school. She joined NIASOM and lo her entire batch barring 4 got preplacement and 14 companies are interested for remaining 4 during dec placement due in 2nd week. My cuzsis is placed with SAS IT consulting firm with anything between 5-6 lac. As far as I know NIASOM is not an insurance MBA - it is general MBA with one vertical elective insurance. quite a few are placed in consultancy, risk management and marketing firms with half of them in insurance firms which seem to be booming. But you must take your own decision. i have visited the campus to see my cuz - it is easily the best in India.

one very good college is NIA(national insurance Academy), Pune. initiation of Ministry of finance, GIC and LIC. which has started the MBA only since 2004. Great campus, director is former SP jain director, member IRDA, SEBI etc. IIM graduated faculties, and very good industry interface. Recently the Artificial intelligence Seminar was held here, in which over 250 participents from 50 countries took part. last date for form submission is 31st jan.
placements: Highest 6.5lacs, average 4.5lacs. batch size was just 31.
web link http://www.niapune.com/mba/index.htm
this college does not do much publicity and therefore less known.
aprrox cutoff: 75%le but people above 85%ile have good chance to convert. i know friends who have got 98.6, 96 and so %iles and have applied great placements highest sal 6.5 lacs avg 4.5 lacs all have atleast 2 offers in hand

in the senior batch all the students hav been placed about 20 days ago....its a good achievment considering this was the 1st batch....Last date 4 sending application forms has been extended till 31st Jan.so any one who has got percentile around 75 should definetly apply...u will be lucky to get into it coz competition will be get tougher every year .....i also heard tht for guest lecture people from Massachusetts Institute of Technology also come there so this strengthens my opinion tht it is one of the best B-school of India....its weblink is http://www.niapune.com/mba/index.htm

dear friends, we had two session from Dr. Ashok Deshpande, proff. (head of Special Interest Group- soft computing research) Berkley university, US. who is also former chairman of NEERI. he taught us about fuzzy logic applications in finance and insurance. being from cmputer engineering background, i could get the idea, and i strongly recommend all you interested to study this subject. He presented his research on per capita water consumption calculation in india. there is huge potential of application of fuzzy logics in share markets, also. Deepak. NIA

I sincerely hope that your predictions come out true. but going through the posts on some other threads i collected that this time more and more people with higher percentiles are getting attracted towards NIASOM. Neways i hope that with 92.26%ile i would make into the last cut.
Well if you can please update us about the following things then we would be in a much better position to make our judgements.
1) fees structure and bank loan facilities.
2) Accomodation (i think that they provide accomodation to only NIA SEE participants.
3) GD/PI process.
Thanx.
