about iiswbm - 23-02-2005, 11:53 PM

hi butsworld and others,

i gather that iiswbm is good for marketing but not so good for finance..can u throw some light on this? i also heard from an ex iiswbm student that iiswbm loses out to other b schools on the innovativeness...i mean the 2 years at iiswbm are more like a normal graduation course...the usual lectures and classes...not as much presentations, or role plays, group discussions, projects or group activities as there are in other comparable b schools..will be great if someone could advise on this,..thanks
amit

Hey!
You have raised a preety valid question...let me try and answer that from my personal experience...
Yes, we do miss the 'campus life' that is a part of any residential b-school, yet we do have our share of 'fun' all the time. About your point on camparing the course with any 'normal degree', I respect the views made by our alumni but i guess that should not be generalised to all. Our faculties are way above any of the schools which fall in the same category (Have a look at this link). One more point which i have felt throughout my journey is that the way of learning is very unique in the sense that our teachers never 'force' us to learn, instead we learn ourself...(i really can't explain this more) something you can only experience.

There are areas which need to be looked upon, given this a very old & traditional institution, the process of which has already begun. At the end of the day I am proud to be a part of this great institution.

But still i suggest you rate a school based on your parameters and not just go by my words...
Cheers!

Hey!

I regret i cannot say anything about the marking process since that is not declared (only ranks are given for final selection) and varies form year to year...It is generally in lines with any b-school addmissions. PI's may be stressful going by our experiences.
best of luck!

Hi,
For this session one needs to apply seperately for both the courses. Infact GD/PI results for mhrm have also been declared.

for MHRM link

There is some debate going on this topic. Anything if decided will be conveyed officaly to all.

Cheers!

Hi,
It would be very difficult but I wud giv it a shot.....to answer your query it all depends on:

The profile of the student:
It includes one and all, Your acads, your work ex, etc. GK is very useful with your GD's especially ur presence of mind!
The profile of the panel of judges:
Same case here eg: If u are a BCom grad and you have a Fin Prof. on board you know what to expect!. One thing you can be sure of that those sitting in the PI Panel would be the best in their areas.

I hope that helps...
