I intend to appear for CAT 2005.
By the time I enter a mgmt institute(if things go right for me), then I will have 1 year and 11 months of work experience.

With such a profile, will I be eligible for lateral placement if I get into the IIMS.
And also, will I be counted as a guy with 2 years work experience???
It entirely depends on the insti and the companies coming to the college. But on avg 22 months is what i have seen in most of the colleges.

It entirely depends on the insti u apply and the companies which come there. AFAIK...colleges like SPJ donot have laterals whereas all iim's have....general info that is known to all is that 22 months is the benchmark....if u have that much work ex than u will considered for laterals.
AJ

Was just going through this thread and then happened to come across IIM K's site, which says that lateral placement is for those who have above 30 months of experience.http://www.indiaeducation.info/iim/k...placements.htm
Is it the same with other IIMs also, or does the 22 month figure applicable there.

AJ
Need lots of luck on loan...hopefully someone donates it to me....

IIMs declare top salaries as 80 k $ - 06-01-2005, 01:25 PM

I have read news stories in ET saying that the top salaries at IIM C was 80 k$ and I also read one story which said that top salary was 115 k $.
Which works out close to 35 - 40 lac p.a..

So what are all you folks talking about???

You must be referring to the lower grades of salaries.
Surely 6 - 6.5 lac p.a is the average salary for an IIM A/B/C grad and not the top salary. So how can you make such generalisations?

The question, which seems to have got lost in all this salary talk about HLL is that who is eligible for the jobs at the I-Banks, freshers or experienced folks.
And surely the I-Bank will pay more than HLL.
Heck even Mckinsey pays 13-14 lakh CTC, so what are you guys talking about.

And surely you can't compare a fresh IIM grad with a 20 year experience guy. Certainly starting salaries 20 yrs back wouldn't have been what they are today.

Could someone please amswer my question?

I absolutely dont agree with your point about enthu v/s Software burnouts.
IIMs are very smart and they must certainly be giving a thought to the employability of a person before admitting him.
After all, the IIMs pride themselves on their placement record(foreign placements and the high salaries).
So why is it that they give more weightage to a guy with workex in calling him for GD/PIs after the CAT.

It must be because they believe that the employability of such a person is higher.

Dood Simple answer

Lehman picks up 2 students from 300 for $110k
that too japan posting.... (even a dataentry operator earns $50k in japan)

HLL picks up 15 units of junta at 6.5 lpa

Mckinsey pays according to experience y have

2-5 years -- 10-14 lpa (laterals)
0-2 yrs 7-10 lpa

and one advise news papers and magzines just try to encourage the fools ambition.
