1) SPJ would probably be the first to issue admission result
2) Many from that list might opt out for greener pastures i mean iim's.
3) Seats increasing probably 10 in each....special....

online test - 24-02-2005, 05:49 PM

in my case we had to go to a couple of rooms which had lots of comps each having a name and id on the display.
we had to find our name and sit on that particular comp only
but as i have said earlier, we couldnt submit the test, so actually it becomes null.
dont think that it will count as much of a criteria for selection as they were not very concerned when the test failed to submit.

anybody has any authentic info on the date of results?

Also i think last time out also SP declared the results before ABC , so i think the waitlist no. will remain the same the only good thing is that the no of seats may increase ...
hey for the final call what is more important .. the interviews or the CAT marks ... ( hopefully the acads and interviews... )

Completed a gruelling 24 hour journey by train from Bangalore and reached Mumbai. Spent a good half hour convincing auto drivers that a place called Munshinagar exists .. finally someone told me to say Bhavans College and bingo, the first auto gets me there. Hostel facilities were really cool

Went early, got myself registered. Ended up in a batch of 6 - 3 IM( Guy with 6 yrs work-ex+ yours truly with 3.5 yrs workex + Guy with 1.5 yrs), 2 Fin(1 Fresher + 1 gal with 1 yr workex) + 1 Marketing guy fresher.

GI panel was two ppl - one dignified gentleman and one serious-looking female prof .. Started off with intros .. gave a pretty lame intro as usual. We were asked to discuss among ourselves about the current trend in marketing. I said something about current trends assuming customer is smart - was asked to give an example by the lady prof .. I gave an example .. she asked the others if they knew abt the ad .. everyone said no .. then asked questions from app to everyone .. dude with 6 years experience cell started ringing in the middle of the interview and 5 mins later he passed a comment that too many cells in India .. overall felt it was ordinary. Came out - 2ppl shortlisted - 6 yrs wala guy and me .. I really dunno why the others missed out. I think the fin fresher was not clear why he wanted and the marketing fresher lost it by being a little less formal than he should have been. Dunno why the gal and the other IM workex chap lost out.

Then wrote the MAT - no idea what I wrote .. pure scribbling. I hated it. Came back and got into the GI2 group - one chap for IM, one gal for Fin, one chap for Ops and one for marketing. We waited, waited, waited .. and didnt get called. The guy who was co-ordinating everything comes to us and says the other interviews are not over yet .. why don't you ppl go and take the online test in the meanwhile .. clearly online test is NOT an elimination.

Finally GI2 after lunch - two profs both male, forgot their names. Initial into, better intro by me than last time. Discussion abt whether army service should be made mandatory in India for 2 years. Spoke against. Got questions from the form. Overall didnt feel so good at the end. Anyways whats over is over.

I have a train to catch again tonigh .. and another 24 hour journey. If I hadn't made it ast the first round, I dunno how I would have felt

BTW, asked the chaparasi .. he said result in 2 weeks .. till then .. enjoy maadi

Incidentally the GI2 - we were asked about Q3 .. what we sould do if we had the freedom .. so everyone gave the usual gyan .. then we were asked about our hobbies .. then one of the panel started saying we were liars because our hobbies did not match our interests .. and then each of us was asked to defend ourselves .. everyone gave really decent answers .. full-time and rapid CYA operations .. I think I was a little too aggressive at times. I "strongly disagreed" with this guy .. in hindsight, seems like a mistake. Anyways its all over now. Am not too hopeful .. but its a relief more than anything else - especially when you clear the first round.

One thing is clear though, SP is against fish-market GD or even GD in the conventional sense. We were told that everyone would get a chance to speak - no need to butt in and make your presence felt. Was good that way, I was the last guy to speak in GD in GI1 without worrying about when the GD would end.

Just an advice if anyone is still remaining. Keep the global gyan to yourself. These ppl know everything about most things. Stick to the point. I think thats where the 6 yr workex guy turned it in his favour, inspite of his cell ringing and all that. Hmm .. and the fin work-ex gal in GI1 had ISB admit, so I presume shes still got her chin up, she may have lost it in her explanation of how she expected the MBA to help her. Most people seemed to have multiple calls .. the gal in GI2 looking for fin had 3 IIM calls. I was the odd man out, in many ways, with only one call.
