Hi Guys..

Really sorry for not having posted my exp earlier. I had my Sp Men GI on 29th but was busy travelling to Pune and Ghaziabad last week. Here s my story...


3 PM slot.. waited till 3:45 PM. 6 of us were called by a guy. Later came to know that he was a part of the panel. (may be adcom member ie admission committee member). 3 panelists - 2 profs and that guy. The classroom was freezing cold...zzzzzzzz.................... Very very cool profs.. were v v friendly.(didnt expect that !!). One female and another male..
1) Introduce urselves and leave the part that concerns ur hobbies etc. we ll come to that later.
2) Then each participant was int'd onr by one. I was the 4th to be int 'd among the 6 of us.

My qns:
1) U r from Andaman..oh.. so what do u think abt the tsunami? ur views??
Me: spoke abt what is reqd there and what not like cooked food etc..
2) Do u think India is equipped to handle such disasters? If u were a part/head of the team which has to avert such disasters, how will u go abt it?
Me: Yes India is well equipped,, And if i were in that team, would list down all risk factors in that area.. for eg. in a hilly area risks like landslides etc. Can take steps like build barricades/support walls etc as in Matheran..
3) I want to know how u will avoid stampedes in religious places..?
Me: Well the best idea would be to replicate the model that is followed in the Tirupathi Tirumala Devasthana or the Shirdi temple which has an amazing crowd management system. Apart from that I would form diff sets of queues for diff entrances..
4) Oh u like singing.. Then how will ur mgmt degree take u to that path..?
Me: Sir, thats my alternative career plan. THere is necessarily no no reln between tha 2 paths.. However, there is def gonna be a day when i come out with my own album, and for that i need a lot of money. Hopefully I am able to make that kinda money or atleast find a sponsor after my MBA. I smile mischevioulsy.. ( they too laugh with me)

Thats all i can remember... i guess there might have been 1-2 more general qns..
The whole 1 round lasted for 1 hr...atleast thats what other pple said..i didnt keep time..

After 15 mins, one guy came upo top the common room where we were waiting and called out one guys name.. He said.." U r not selected for the next round.. U may leave!" gosh... gave me the creeps...

After 20 mins it was the call for second round.. 5 of us only..
I was the first in that list. so was asked to sit at the rightmost end.
1) Introduce urselves first. And tell us one fancy / whim that u have..
Me: Intro.. My whim is to break a bottle filled with some fluid against a wall of bricks..
2) Why is that a whim?? u ve never done that ?..
Me: NO sir, Havent been able to do that till dat..
3) Why?
Me: May be didnt get an isolated place..
After everyones intro...started again with me..
4) Ok.. Me, foregin invstsmnt in India is v low, Y wud u think so.. I guess corruption is a major cause.. (He himself said that !!) can u tell me 3 measures to curb corruption?
Me: First sir, Anti Corruption Flying sqauds shd be set up. They shd have the right to visit any place and take action at that time. Second, the punishment shd be severe. The people indulging shd be penalised severely ,not just a small fine and a few months of jailing, SOmething like dispelling the person from his job! Thirdly we shd also look at why pple r indulging in this act. I guess thier salary itself is less, they r underpaid due to which they get into such activites. So we shd look at that also and increase thier salary.
5) Oh u mean to say Enron chief was underpaid, Harshad Mehta was underpaid, Ketan Parekh was underpaid? (He also went on to say another 3 names.. of whiom i v e never heard of !@!)
Me: No sir.. (I smiled).. I am talking abt the govt offices in India. For eg. When i had to get my license from the RTO office , I had to pay a huge sum to my agent and the reason given to me was that he had to grease all the officials in the RTO office. Each clerk has to be paid some amount for my file to be passed to the next table.. I am talking abt such pple.
6) So who do u think shd be punished.. the giver or the taker..? And how?
Me: Oh sir.. both.. A person who is a giver at one place is the taker in another place. A personb who is used to such an activity will give/take whereever the situation demands it.
How do u suggest we punish a person who bribes a cop?
Me: In India we r shortly going to have the concept like the US Social Security Numbers. This way we cud have a track record of each person who is found guilty of such a crime and how many times he has committed sucha crime. Keeping a tab on this number would enable us to enforce maesures like cancelling his license etc..
7) What r ur career objectives?
Me: Said that .. no further qns on that
(At the end) Jai..assuming u have been selected into the institue, which of the other person from this grp would u select into the institute?
Me: Sir, I would select XXXXX ( he was good,,.got v good qns..) thats assuming i ve been selected..
9) I told u .. u ve been seletced.. dont u believe me>>?(laughs),,,
Me: Of course .. I do sir..(smile it away!!)
3 pple said XXXXX, One person voted for a girl YYYYY in the group, and XXXXX selected me.

Thats it!!

After that MAT(mgmt apt test). 55 oneliner qns,,, just be truthfull and 5-6 essay type qns.. what do u elders think of u etc etc..

Then an online pshcyometric test..

finished both these tests in less than half the time given as i started feeling sick by that time.. was having a splitting headache by the time my 2nd int started.
I came out of the campus at 9:00- PM..

Thats my story..Pray for me guys!!!

are yaar tune to tod phod macha dali....i mean u have rocked them.....hopefully they donot start having very high expectations from others after u.... frm where i am u look to be a sure shot spjainite...

the qs were much tougher than mine and u handled them very well

Hey Ajain...

To be frank buddy, XXXXX was better than me in that room.. Pretty evident from the fact that 3 of 5 voted for him.. And XXXXX (who was with me in the first round) too said I was not at my best in the second round.. May be bcoz of the kinda qns put to me... Actually i didnt make a great impression towards the end which was desirable..

Ne ways ur prayers can see me thru..

Gave my interview on 6th feb ..

i was in the 10:30 batch , a group of 6 were selected for the interview , we had two people from IM , 2 finance , 1 Operations and 1 marketing . We had a decent first round , it started with a GD on medha patkar and followed by our intrests and hobbies .
We were then sent back to the main room where we waited for the results , 2 were selected for next round . for next round i was put into another group of 2 people , so for second round we were a group of 3 .Here we got grilled badly , all three of us , the interview was more like a stress interview , we were firstly asked about hobbies , intrests , then opionion on MMS scandal , then he asked a lot of questions on that ...
Anyway finally out of the three 2 including me were sent for the online test ( i have no idea , y someone is not sent for it .. or the significance of this test ) . After the online testv i gave the MAT and then left the campus ..

it started at 9:30 in the moring went on till 6:45 in the evening ...

Dude I rocked at SCMHRD... ......
m just kidding buddy..
I cleared all elimination rounds... and reached the final stage of Interview with the Director... And IMT was also good!

Just came back yesterday from Delhi... Hows u buddy... sorry was v busy in Pune ..cudnt call u...

AND hey..thx for being so magnanimous about my performance..!!! Boosts my confidence for other interviews that remain...

Hey ppl, here goes my intrview experience @ SP.

I was in the 8:30 batch on 30th Jan.
6 people in my batch - 4 people having a 2.5 - 3 yr exp, a fresher from Delhi (Engg) and me with a 6 month exp in an IT firm.

We were called in at around 9. There were 2 profs in the room. No students. One of them was the serious types, while the other was a li'l casual.
The intr started off with the usual introductions. When people tried to say more stuff, they were told to keep it for later. So people keep ur intro short and stick to the basics - 'coz they seem to prefer it that way. people with work exp were then asked a li'l about their job and the kind of role they are assigned.

The general trend seems to be that people with very li'l W.E. 0-1 yr are being asked about the company, the domain, their knowledge of the business/project they are working on. Also from what I heard from others, the freshers were not asked any academics related questions. Freshers can probably expect more questions of the "Why MBA", "Why this specialisation" kind. So be prepared for that !! Also prepare ur intro properly. 'coz that one of the expected questions, and if u dont make it smooth it shows a li'l badly. In our batch there were no questions on "Why MBA" etc, though in a few batches there were these questions. But I guess they dont probe too much into this.

Next - the usual questions on hobbies. Make sure u read up something abt ur hobby, know a few eminent personalities, etc. Esp if ur hobby is reading, remember at least one story properly.

There was this one interesting question, that people with W.E. were being asked. They first ask u about ur company's fin pos and other gen stats. Then I was asked what would I recommend if I were the CEO of the company. Another interviewee was asked the same q - what would she do if she were the CEO of my company.

Thats basically all that hapenned in the first round. It lasted for an hour. No unnecessary tension. They also dont try to pin u down. U just need to keep ur cool and dont stammer. Some people with good profiles in my batch went down I thought because they stammered a li'l too much.

Well, then after a 20 min break we were told to write the online test - 55 mins. Extremely boring. Thankfully it wont be corrected manually. So they are probably just trying to see ur consistency. Another break for 20 mins. Then a new group is formed. This time its only 4 of us. 3 from Marketing and 1 in IM.
The round started with the usual introduction. The interviewers were a li'l more serious this time. Here again we had all gen questions - ranging from "Ur take on religion" to "India's situation and what can be done to improve". There was a question on "Brain drain". Again some situation was created and we were told to give our reactions. Nothing that one could have prepared for basically. The interview went for close to an hour. No surprises here.

Well ok thats about it I guess. The results will be announced in the first/second week of March, we were told. Also some of the SP students told us that some of the essay form had not been even looked at !! So, probably there will be more calls. I'm not suggesting anything, but there is just a posibility !!
