hi this is my first post on PG and i d like to start off with my interview experience at sp jain
date:feb 5 th saturday
round 1: group of 6 ppl-two with work ex and 4 freshers of which three engineers and one economics student

started off with a group discussion on"consumerism is good for the soul"
all of us gave our views .....lasted for about 5 mins .....one of us were asked to conclude

then each of us were asked indvidual q s i'm trying to remember all the q s and it goes somethin like this
1 y mba?
2 y marketing/finance?
3 work ex ppl asked about current job
4 asked bout hobbies -readin choreographin etc were some of the answers...asked a lil bit about hobbies
5 y must s p jain select you?wat is in it for us by selectin you?
6 what is more important academics or extra curricular?
7 i mentioned leadership qualities as a strength ....was asked to explain with a recent example how i showed leadership qualities.


over all i got the impression they werent testin your knowledge...they were trying to know u better as a person

result: 3 short-listed for rest of the process......all 3 freshers

round 2:mat test:

one hour around 55 q s were asked to fill in a form like the application form with q s like
what do ur parents/friends/seniors think about u?
strengths weakeness likes dislikes achievements professional and personal etc etc
again no way of preparin for these except by introspection

round 3:group interview 2

again a two member panel......pretty much the same type of q s frm interview 1

started off with a two min self introduction
was asked q's on the connection btw hobby and management
also everybody was asked for his/her whim and fancy(kinda caught off guard)
ended with :which animal/bird/flower do u associate urself with

round 4sychometric test........56 q s with five options each had to b ranked 1 to 5 in order of preference...again i believe no way u can prepare for this.....the key is to" just b urself"-think bout how u d actually handle the situations

Was GD topic because people were from MKTG specialisation or they were frm diff fields.

He says "why marketing/finance?" .. there may have been ppl for other specialisations too, I guess

Hey Guys,
a very good morning to all of you......
Some people during the SP Jain interviews are being asked to appear for an online test apart from standard MAT.
Does anybody of you know the significance of this test?
People who have not been asked to take such a test after the second round of interview...r they suppose to mean that they are out?
Fyi, I had my interview on 22nd Jan.That day nobody was asked to take the online test.All who qualified the first round went through MAT followed by the second round of interview.

pls enlighten me on this.

Hello all, my time to contribute:
Date: 6th Feb
Slot: 2:00 pm

I reached at one and got registered..they told me not to leave the room after registering.. some ppl came up to me who were also in 2 pm slot... i got to know abt all of them , thinking they wud be with me..but no.. I was put into another group, 3 girls including me and 3 guys..all work ex except me.. so I was a bit freaked out..

GI 1: Panel consisted of two really sweet ladies, who asked us to introduce ourselves. Then they asked us abt some specific thing written on the form.. they asked us to give an opinion abt the effectiveness of Manmohan Singh as PM and can Chidambaram be interchanged with Manmohan Singh, and will it or wont it make a difference and why?
The work ex ppl were asked qs on their work and some awards and stuff..Me having neither, was not questioned on all that.

We all head back to the regn room feeling satisfied. Results out in 5 min, only 2 got selected..one girl working in Morgan Stanley, and one guy in Patni Comp.. me thrown out..
I go out to the courtyard to tell my dad lets go.. but I had to wait there for some time as a friend of mine had to come meet me..so I was waiting there only.. when SPJ ppl called my dad up and asked him where I was and told him to send me up.
I go back to Regn room, and they say, "Chalo , Aishwarya mil gayee" and they tell me there was some mix up, and I shud go take the MAT .

Went to take MAT.. 55 min, really lengthy boring questionnaire...
after that diff group , 5 of us, all guys except me , all work ex except me..
2nd GI panel also had two ppl , two gentlemen..

Asked us to introduce ourselves, asked questions on the form, and on values and all.. I was asked abt Lord of The Rings, altho I had not written anything abt it in the form..but since I had read it could answer...everyone was asked on hobbies and all..
They asked us have u tried to find out something abt what u're going to study and isnt management really common sense and all that..I think we handled it well.
Thats it..go back to room.. another 5 min, only 4 out of us 5 went to give online test..still don't know why..

That was the end of a very gruelling day that had it's own ups and downs...
Apparently, my dad went and asked that lady in the regn room what the mix up was all abt, and she said they're very fair, and even If I had gotten back to delhi..they wud have called me back...!!!

seems history repeated itself... last yr one of the gals went back to her home whn she received a call frm SP for the 2nd GI. the gud part is that the gal was finally selected...
