Her cat%(96.76)

and she is a fresher
This post looks interesting and I want to give my suggestion for the same. Look this is MY viewpoint and many would disagree (I don't want to give Diplomatic answer), but still ...

You do MBA only once in ur lifetime (mostly) ... and then slog for 30+ years working. So does it matter if u work for 1 less year ?

okie to start with, a good MBA institute gives you a head-on start and also the brand name + alumni helps you throught the career.

In this particular case
1. She is fresher
2. 96+ percentile is good
3. Great acads

So my suggestion

In this case she should give one more shot.

1. Just look at NMIMS and only if she is very desparate to do MBA, then go for it (I suggest not).
2. MICA only and only if she is interested in that particular field.
3. Should not go for MA .. anyhow she is going to clear next year and join MBA, why to waste 1 year of MA
4. Instead she should join a coaching institute to study - there she will get guidence as well as competitive environment.
5. Also side by side she should join a job - anything - book keeping, market research job, call centre, customer care centre, receptionist, teaching etc. Depending on the availability and choice. Look next year when she appears for interview she can always
* Put it as work experience - B-Schools give weightage to work-ex
* Magnify the achievement - eg. one might be doing some survey for market research .. but he/she can put it as "Market Research Analyst" with field experinece and blah blah ... It just depends how you put yourself (read fancy words)
* That experience will also help during MBA course.

For I feel student of such caliber should give one full fledge try. I don't think it will be difficult for her to crack the ones she has already done.

So take that one year as an investment ...anyhow she'll be adding more to her CV -sharpen ur saw before cutting trees.

Finally as Piyushisnice said "Although you can get a lot of nice advices from us, but still, let her decide" .

So She has to take final call. She shouldn't feel "HAD I APPEARED ONE MORE TIME "
Hope u read this post. Feel free to revert back.

~V

PS: I suggest make it a new post. Lots of Junta must be in same dilema.

which institute to choose(NITIE/SP Jain) - 16-03-2005, 07:55 PM

i converted calls from NITIE, SP Jain, MDI and IIM K.

i chose NITIE above all the institutes because NITIE is best in india for operations ahesd of all the IIMs.

so in my opinion none of the members should have any doubt over the choice of institute

hey congrats to all of u who got in. my number didnt figure in second list either.
but am not dejected. i didnt prepare for CAT so really cant say that am shocked.

am a fresher so i didnt expect to get in too easily either. i got a job in a good company. so will mostly be in hyderabad next year. gonna work for 2 years now and then write again. so until then... MAY THE FORCE BE WITH U!!!

and my advice to freshers who didnt get in.. pl dont take just ANY institute. work for a few years and then give it another shot.

all the best.

Hi guyzz..

Posting after a long time, but have been a silent watcher for quite some time now. With the second list there are many upsets on this forum and I add one more to it. Couldn't make it ...

Neway I strongly believe this list can't be the last one. they have send out abt 190 calls. For at least 150 seats (there is rumour they are gonna increase their intake this yr )... So they must declare a waiting list or something. But it can well happen after the IIM results...

Bottomline, for all the broken hearts, lets not bank on another list and gear up for something else, something new.. may be cat next yr.. for me its gonna be GMAT quest now (think getting too old for CAT with 3yrs work ex already)
SO NOW......

Congrats to the class of 2007...

i just wanted to add a few points..i totally agree with u vik that a person with her calibre shld prob give another try but from what i have seen she is good with the written(i mean the test) but she loses out in the final rounds of interview..how u gonna improve this...and the MA option we are looking at cld be an MA from delhi school of economics or ISI,Calcutta...Please tell me what do u think considering this new perspective....
