if i opt for study leave i will have to come back to company
after completion and then serve notice etc..

Important Issues:
Where do you work ? Guess one of the IT companies.. infy/wipro/ibm/tcs
What is the work culture there ?
what level will they take u when u finish.
will u be able to leverage ur MBA at ur current work place.

Personally I dont think its a good idea to go on a study leave.. my company offered it too.. infact i m doing very well here.. possible that my pay post MBA might be same or at max slightly more than present.. but..
You gotta take risks in life man !!.. so what if the economy goes for a toss in 2007 !.. believe in urself.. that even if there are massive lay offs.. u will by sheer industry and ur faculties.. do the best u can.. and not just survive .. but Thrive !!... believe in urself.. trust in GOD.. Amen

So to measure up my chances at SP need your op... plz..

well my second interview was screwed - not that good... rest acads, work ex 1.5yrs and rest assured good... then wat are the odds....

Always Disasterous

Chill man...
well we all are in the same boat ... no use using abusing lang for SP ... U shud respect an institute ... (had they selected u in the 1st go, wud u still speak in the same tone) if u have issues/problems, u shud speak them in a proper manner... plz maintain ur calm & think coolly...

regd ur chances: no one can tell u... even the interviewer, who took ur interview, cannot tell that... bcoz it's all realtive... one's chance of getting an offer depends on how the rest of the junta performed... I wud advice u to keep ur draft & docs ready & wait till 19th/20th... incase u do not make it till then, deposit the fees...

Even i got thru for IM with abt 20 mths work-ex (software). Profile: CAT 98.4; BE (Information technology-- Mumbai); 12th: 92.5; 10th: 95.2 (1st in ICSE). 1st GI was excellent, 2nd GI ok (wasn't asked much).
I dont mean to dishearten any1, but i really dont think there's a connection between final calls and yrs of work-ex.
All the best to every1 for tomorrow's list!

Stuff nightmares are made of, sadly many of us seem to go to sleep and wake up to a new nightmare .. anyways lets see what awaits in the second list.

Anyone has any idea about how many seats are there? That'd be some really valuable info

For starters go easy on the font size, pal.

Will your current company offer you a pay AND job role commensurate to ur qualifications in 2007? As in, will you get a decent(more than decent, actually) hike and an improvement on your current role? If yes, and if you wanna be loyal or something, go ahead and take leave. Else, resign.

As for the job situation in 2007 .. who knows man? Like agoondoo said, you have to back yourself to succeed. Things could go wrong in 2008 after you join some company and get laid off or something. There is no point taking that approach at all. Do so well in SPJ that you get picked up by the best companies during recruitment. Thats it.

I think there are 40 more seats in the second merit list and it would include people from all the specializations.

If situation worsens in 2007, ur company wud keep u on hold first rather than firing other employees. So if ur thinking tht ur safe by taking a study leave, think again!!!

Take a study leave only if u believe tht u really want to go back to ur company after the MBA(for e.g McKinsey or BCG)... So why not keep getting ur basic sal per month during ur MBA... [don't know if ur company has this policy]
