Hi guys,
I had a percentile of 93.45 (QA-82, VA/RC-89, DI-93) in CAT last year and got GD/PI call from IMI,Delhi. It was conducted in IIM-B and one of the 2 interviewers was from operations(very senior professor).The GD was in a batch of 10. We were given 2 topics to choose from. We chose the topic related to "match-fixing in cricket". It lasted for 15 minutes. Almost everybody got the oppurtunity to speak. The guy who was quiet throughout the GD was asked to "conclude".
Interviews lasted for about 20 minutes. The interviewers had knowledge of anything and everything. I heard from others that questions were asked pertaining to academic background. I was lucky though. They didn't ask me anything on Computer Engineering. One of my class 12's subject was "statistics" and i was asked few questions on "tools" of statistics and "importance and usage" of staistics in business and day-to-day activities. I was also asked to give reasons for the downfall of my academic performance from class 10 to class 12. They asked me which field in MBA was I interested in. Since it was "finance", the discussion shifted to indian economy and GDP. I was asked to comment on the increasing contribution of service sector to the GDP. Then the topic diverted towards BPO and outsourcing stuff. The other interviewer(a lady) asked me about the high attrition rate in BPOs and the reasons for it. I was also told to provide a solution for the same if i was to be the manager of a BPO firm. At the end of the interview I was asked few questions about my hometown(kolkata), probably because the interviewer was also from the same place!
My GD/PI session was pretty good and I got the final call too. But I thought of giving one more shot at CAT and didn't join IMI last year. I REGRET my decision as I messed up in CAT this year.
